i know hbms gets a bad rap cause its so damn short and easy but if you take just a putter or a mid (depending if its windy or not) it actually can become a fun course. then make up some of your own tee pads and its even better. here is a pic with the tees we normally play. the alt (2) tees are just ones we have been experimenting with and we haven't come up with any other good ones for some holes but are slowly working on it. http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/smyith2005/detail?.dir=/dfadscd&.dnm=e538scd.jpg

unfortunately you are trying to point to a picture that is on your local c: drive... needs to be hosted on a website.  If you do an attachement (expand the "additional options" when posting), then it will pull the image from the computer and host it on this site.

Would be neat to see some Alts for HBMS.  Maybe some Safari holes too??

I would like to host a mini USDGC at this course. Nasty tight OB & you can only use a putter. Mike, Dan, & I had a good time playing this course while using the USDGC configuration.

Hey folks...I work at this school, (music teacher- yay me!) and run the Frisbee Golf club here, so let me know if you roof discs...I should be able to get them back, although if they're over the building around holes 1-3 it's tough...there's no direct ladder descending to that part of the roof.

Also, I'd be very interested if you did a tournament...I hold one here in the fall as well, but just for the school kids.

woohoo for revival of an almost 2 year old thread :)  That post above ^^^ has sparked some cool happenings over at Hannah Beardsley.  Since then, Mike (moog_playa) and I have set up and run 4 tournaments at the course for the middle school students.  Yesterday was our 4th (one in Oct/Nov and then one in May/June), and we had a new high for players - 42 students!  Keep in mind that these are only kids from Hannah Beardsley too, so having a course at the school is really helping spread the word to these kids about this great sport.  The entry fee for them is only $5, and then they get enough fun money to either buy a DX disc, save up if they win and get something better, or use it to buy Gatorades and other misc stuff.

The part that makes me jealous is that the 8th graders moving on up to high school will now go to Prairie Ridge - where they have yet another DG course on campus to play!

There were 9 - 6th graders, 21 - 7th graders, and 12 - 8th graders.  One kid aced hole 8 (really short downhill).

We play a 3 rounds of 9 format, and I believe that the best overall score was about -11.  While there's still a lot that these kids need to learn about the flow of a more professional tournament, it's still great to see this many new kids get involved in the game :)

Nice work!  Is this limited to just the kids that attend HBMS or are other 6th, 7th & 8th graders from around the area able to attend?

right now this is just a benefit to students at HBMS (so it's really impressive to have 42 students all from the same school).  Inviting students from other schools makes it more difficult because you have to involve the parents more and have them drive the kids to this school (instead of just picking them up from their regular school later in the day).

On top of that some of the people who really enjoy players following PDGA rules at a tournament would freak out the moment they saw these tournaments lol.  It's probably 20 infractions per kid per hole, but they are learning.  Everyone received a free mini this time, and we showed them how to use it during the tournament.  Very few of them actually used them, but oh well.  That was the least of my worries!

I also gave them a brief instructional on how they should try to throw more backhand than forehand (probably 35 of the 42 said they prefer forehand over backhand - mainly because they all love drivers and all love the extra distance that forehand gives them right now).  I tried to show how they should keep their throws flat when using a backhand and chucked my putter further than a lot of them would throw their driver (it should be noted these guys don't care much for putters either).  You can see a few of the serious ones - the guys that bring money to invest in a bag, spend their time picking out good discs, saving up to buy star plastic, etc.  Then there's another group where it's give me my dx disc and I'm gone type of attitude.

All in all it's a fun event, and hopefully we can keep running stuff like this - the principal at HBMS has been real appreciative of the efforts so far!
