El Mexicano

Hey Mike, what are the rules like on this one? How are rounds rated, if at all? These may be dumb questions, but I really don't know.

Thanks!

El Mexicano

I'd like to play this one, so if anyone wants to take a chance and play with a Mexican let me know.

Roiunds do not get rated for doubles. Regular PDGA rules. Divisions just like regular PDGA divisions. You get PDGA points for this as well.

Being that it is PDGA sanctioned does that mean only the Open division is cash payout?

What happens if a pro and am player are a team in the open div.Would the pro get cash and the am get merch?

pickax

Since it is a pro division, I believe the am has to decline anything other than a trophy. Merch in lieu of cash is still considered accepting cash.

Bruce Brakel

No.  If an am takes prizes playing in a pro division based on his finish, he is a pro.

I have sent an email to the PDGA about this. I will post the answer when I get it.

Turning Pro
A player relinquishes amateur status by registering in a professional division with the PDGA, or by competing in a professional
division at a PDGA Tour event and accepting prize money (cash) based on place of finish. A player also relinquishes amateur
status by accepting prizes in lieu of prize money (cash) for placing in a professional division at a PDGA event.

In doubles if the am partner wants to remain an am, the team has to decline half the cash.  This has happened more than once at Pro Worlds during Mixed Doubles.

Thank you Bruce. That sounds like it would be the right thing to do.
