I will be hosting a post Thanksgiving Day event.  The official name is still up for debate but here are the rest of the details:

Who:      Terry Miller of Lifetime Disc Sports and his helpful buddies.
What:     PDGA Sanctioned C-Tier | Singles event
When:   Saturday, Nov 25th.  8:30 - 9:30 check in
Where:  UW-Parkside Disc Golf Course
Why:      One final chance to earn a few more PDGA points
How:      Sign up online to secure your spot.  There is a $10 day of registration fee.  Please pre-reg.

Any questions can come to me.  I hope to see you there!

Baskets positions?

discglfr

I know everyone will for sure play the short tees the first round.  What we are going to do for the second round will be decided at at later date.

The reason is...if we have 40 intermediates show up (which I realize isn't likely) I don't want to commit to saying they are playing the long tees second round but if we had only 10 there maybe we'd see.  Advanced is really the division that will most likely be impacted.  As I said, they will for sure play shorts first round but if we have a huge turnout they might likely play shorts second round as well.

We're staring late(r) because it is a busy weekend but we also have to move things along swiftly due to the lack of daylight.

I hope this helps.

I will be thinking about pin placements in the next few days and likely get them posted on here as that develops.

Thanks,

Dennis Miller

Be aware that at some point the baskets will not be movable due to freezing.

Were moving baskets to the places that Uncle Joe wants for the Ice Bowl after Big Paw...  If it is warm enough, I'm sure we can move them the day before your event.

There's a big cross-country event there that day as well. (I only know that because my son and/or some of his friends may run in it.) hope they're not running through the course!?

Could I possibly play any worse if I didn't practice putting??

mirth

probably not, although they may come close. Petrifying Springs park is adjacent to campus & it has a large XC course.
Don't forget your towel!

that xc course is on the other side of the campus, great land for a dg course...  but it is a world class xc course..  awesome skiing in the winter.

Ter, what days are you around Parkside?  are you still teaching?  If your not around I'll just mail the registration.

With the Am and Pro Howlers in the books I wanted to update this thread about the Cold Turkey event I have going on at Parkside.

It is Saturday, November 25th at UW Parkside .  It is a PDGA Sanctioned C-Tier and we already have the   PDGA list of pre-registered players up.  Currently we have 4 divisions represented.  I will also host any other division that wants to attend assuming we get at least 3 participants in that division.  You want to see a Advanced Womens Senior Grandmasters division?  I'll offer it as long as there are 3 people that fit that criteria.

As always I ask you to please pre-register.  You can do so in 1 of 3 ways.

1)  Use my webstore:    Take Flight Today

2)  Send a check for the correct amount to my home address.

3)  Hand it to me in person before Saturday, November 25th.

Any person that registers that day will incur the $10 day of registration fee.  Money collected from that day of fee will go towards the $200 needed to offset the cost of running the event at Parkside.

Any questions - contact myself as usual.  Terry@prodiscgolfer.com

Terry,

When does registration close.  I want to play this event, but I won't know if I can until about the day before Thanksgiving.

Great question - I'll be keeping the ONLINE registration open until sometime on Friday night (11/24).  I'm not exactly sure what time but it will likely be until Friday night.

If anyone wishes to pay with a check via the mail service you may send your info and payment to:  Terry Miller | 14781 Hidden Creek Ct |
New Berlin, WI 53151.

Thanks

Anybody else thinking about playing this event?  I'm planning on it if I'm in town that weekend.  So far it looks like I will be.

Jay

Terry,

This may be a stupid question, but I want to be clear.  On the TakeFlight site, it says that every Amatuer player gets a player pack.  Do you mean only the "Amatuer" division or any non-pro division?  Specifically, does the rec division get a player pack?

I think I'm going to be there either way, but I'd like to know for sure.

Thanks

I plan on playing. Hopefully the weather will be decent.

Any non-Pro should typically get a player's pack. That's the way I understand it on his store.

Not a stupid question.  Terry did the old school thing of calling the intermediate division the amateur division.  Your confusion flows naturally from his.

Jay,

This is not a stupid question and I'm glad you asked.  Any NON-PRO division will receive a players pack.  That includes Jrs, Recs, Int, Adv, Adv Mast, etc.

The next question is ... do MOST people like the idea of receiving funny money which they can use towards a disc?  The advantage to this is ...

1)  You don't HAVE to use it towards a disc.  Instead a hat, towel, chair, etc
2)  You can keep it until the end of the event and use it with other funny money you might earn from the event.

Does this sound good to the majority?  It's how I typically do it but I'd like some feedback.

SIUFrolf

unless the disc in the player pack is a custom stamp for the tourney, I like being able to make my own choice on what to get instead of an overstocked disc that I may not throw or like. so, in short, I like the funny money idea.  I'm gettin excited to play this tourney, it'll be a nice "end of season" event before the snow falls.

Thanks for the feedback Kyle!

Make sure that you and everyone else you know gets registered for the event asap.  I know there are only 9 right now (which I just updated minutes ago) but I'm sure it is going to get pretty busy in the next 14 days!  The GMO this year had about 15 people signed up about 8 days before the event and ended with 168 total!  We are capping so don't delay.

Online reg or mailing it in is fine if you wish to secure your spot and avoid the $10 day of registration tax.

Hey Terry:

I hope to play if my leg isn't any worse than it feels today, so I should reg in the next week or so.

off topic, when is Dretzka going to be pulled? I was planning to go next Sat (18th) but if it's not going to be in it would be good to know - wanted to check out Dineen anyhow but it is a long trip from da big city...
thanks,
