72 PDGA TD reports completed and submitted.

PDGA IR Stats!

K.C.

4:00 am:  Mr. Chad Eng got off of work at 3, so I met him at Rt. 6 at 4:00...and we headed down to Peoria.

5:30 am:  Pulled into Washington Park, enjoyed round #1 in our wet shoes. Very cool little course.  Sort of a better, more elevated, Folletts, but with about the same amount of challenge.
Winner....Chad, cuz he brought Water-Proof Socks, not cuz of the score.

7:30 am:  Pulled into ICC's Park, enjoyed round #2 (still in my wet shoes).  I'd played there before, so we thought we'd at least give it another chance.  Still not impressive at all...just sort of annoying.  Some cool holes, but most of is made up of EXTREME hyzer or EXTREME anhyzer routes, and not all that cool.
Winner....PFC, cuz I didn't even notice where some 14 year old kids had tried to burn the forest down...it must clean up well.

9:30 am:  Pulled into Lake Eureka, enjoyed round # 3.  Two JACKASSES, that were up as early as us at ICC told us we should check out Eureka's course "if we thought ICC was tough".  We asked if it was worth playing, and they said:  "well, you haven't played it before, so you might as well...but its sort of stupid."  This course is AMAZING!!!  Chad and I both were awestruck with it.  It is a tight course, so you've got be on (Chad, unfortunately was NOT on)...but every hole has got something that leaves you thinkin'..."that was cool".  This was probably my favorite course all day!  (Side note...I think this is the course that hurt the most, too, cuz we threw WAY too many extra shots, thinkin' we just HAD to throw that hole again.)
Winner....I'll take the honors here, only because Chad most definately would not!

11:30 am:  Pulled into Northwoods (Morton), enjoyed round #4.  When I say "enjoyed", I meant our company...cuz the course beat us down, and we didn't have enough energy to care.  We took our 3's, 4's, and 10's and held our head as high as our fatigued neck muscles would allow.
Winner...Morton, not even close!

1:30 pm:  Pulled into McNaughton (Pekin), enjoyed round #5.  After some Chinese food enjoyed in a kitchen smelling of fresh dog poo, and a bottle of Ibuprofen apiece, we met up with some of Chad's Hardcore friends for a round of doubles.  Well, if you've never played McNaughton...first of all, YOU SHOULD, but secondly...you realize that this didn't exactly HELP our arms.  Played it all from the longs, and it ended up being Chad and I against each other as Chad's Hardcore friends pointed out that Eng can be the best in at least ONE clique of friends.
Winner...random chuckers, cuz they're going to find some pretty nice discs that Chad and I lost out there.

5:00 pm:  Pulled into Marquette Heights (Pekin), enjoyed rounds #6 1/2.  Marquette is a stupid little 9 holer in a field of itch-weed, trees, and bees (all of which we became VERY familiar with).  So, how ELSE would you play the first round, but left-handed???  We tried to play another round with minis, but the itch-weed decided against it.
Winner....tie:  Chad and I...for throwin' like the two biggest girls in the world. (No offense, ladies)  We'd let out large grunts after each massive hurl with our left arms...only to see the discs land 80 feet away.  (we now have sympathy for Brett's game.)  ;D

7:30 pm:  Pulled into Kewanis Park (Galesburg), enjoyed round #7.  Great course, if you have not played it.  It was not, however, the coolest course to play on shredded arms, beat down legs, and chaffing.  Oh well, we did it...and then emptied our bags on hole 18 (391 ft) just to defy the disc golf gods their pleasure of seeing us whimper.
Winner...the disc golf gods.  We whimpered, MAN did we whimper.

9:30 pm:  Rolled back into Colona, went our seperate ways...ended our saga.

HELL of a day, though.  And as long as the story seemed...imagine DOING it.  It was a blast.  4 am - 9:30 pm....hell yeah!

Next on the agenda....and coming (probably) sometime soon:

Saturday starting early:
-Folletts Park (Folletts, IA)
-Fulton Park (Fulton, IL)
-Kelly Park  (Morrison, IL)
-Sinnissippi Park (Sterling, IL)
-Krape Park (Freeport, IL)
-Seward Forest Preserve (object golf, cuz the park is just THAT beautiful)

Sunday Morning:
-8:00 skins at Anna Page (one of the courses)
-10:00 league at Anna Page (one of the courses)
-Krape Park (Freeport, IL)
-Mt. Carroll's new course

Don't want to start a new thread so I'm posting here:

I'll be in Geneva, IL next weekend. Would like to play some courses nearby. I'm wondering what recommendations players might have and if anyone knows if the courses are still in the ground?

Thanks.

That will put you close to the St. Charles course 9-holer (which I'm told is closed but people still play? Mike K. has posted on that).  If you head south you hit Aurora and could play at Jericho or maybe even head further south to oswego or east of Aurora to naperville and play knoch knolls.

Courses closest to Geneva

Bartlett will be open, but I don't recommend it unless you feel like playing a bunch of really long open holes.

I'd say the best course near there is definetly Oswego now that it's an 18. Old open holes mix nicely with the new, wooded holes.

You might as well play Aurora too if your out that way, but watch your step on the long tee pads. They seal-coated them and can be a bit slippery.

St. Charles is a Roc course, but the elevation changes they have make it interesting.

distantdg

Yeah come out to aurora and oswego...there's leagues on saturdays this week oswego, next week jericho. if your interested in that i can let you know specifics, or if you need someone to show you around.

I don't think many IL disc golfers have played this course. It's a good 5 hour haul from Chicago.

I agree with dancole, it is an amazing course (well, two courses) beautiful layout on the 18, 9 is nice but the 18 is amazing.

Not really.

Using the existing Lake County holes I have constructed a pretty good 18 hole course I think.  They are in the order that I think would flow best if this course actually existed.  I dont' like too many hyzers or annies in a row and I like the back 9 to be tougher than the front.  I'm very bored at work today.

Course Length ~6210 feet

ICC is not dumb, it is a challenge. Why shoot under par everywhere you play??? This is a demanding course that makes you think , not just duece every other hole. on the short course, I shot -14, -7 on the front, -7 on the back, no bogeys. Threw a Roc on every hole for my drive. Was with fellow Peoria golfer, ex PRO Tim Martin, as a witness.

Eureka, well worth the trip.
I live 5 minutes from McNaughton, and NEVER play LONG Tees but in trnys. I like my arm enough not to throw it of just for fun. lol  ;D

You missed Canton, nice little course, with some demanding shots, with a couple true par 4's

Marqueete Heights has been there since 1980, and NEVER gets played. More vandalism there than anything, and NO UPKEEP. They need to move them baskets somewhere for more play, like out back at McNaughton. That back field out past circle drive use to be a 18 hole temp course for the Peoria Open. Could have 2 permanent 18 hole courses like Anna Page. Would be neat, the 2 toughest course in Illinois, having 2 18 hole courses.
