hello folks,

With Tom Christianson's exit from running tourneys,at least for now. Being a stay at home dad and disc salesman par excellence, your club now has the opportunity to run tournaments at all of the courses in lake county . This would be good for yuor club and good for disc golf . I'm certain that the parks depts in

crystal Lake , Buffalo  Grove , and Streamwood would be delighted you might want to talk to tom first . just an idea for you . After seeing the demise of three clubs in lake county I'm glad to see someone stepping up to the plate just don't drop the ball , or burn people out . Another idea that i have seen down in atlanta is running tournaments without trophies . Admittedly this was shocking at first but being reminded of how much of a pain in the butt aquireing them for an event was it might be the easiest solution for A club that runs multiple events in a year .

Are we going to make a TD contract?  I thought that I heard Jon talking about this.  I feel that this is a good idea for the club.  It would be nice to let course pros know that we can give them the exposure of the site and our name behind them as long as the club gets a a few bucks per player.  We have to realize that we don't have the time or people to run all the events possible in this area.

I think we should start talking about this now and get something going for next year.  We have the non-profit statise, have insurance and the best disc golf site in the world.  It would be silly to not think about this.  We could even have a TD workshop, for first time TD's.

Shawn, I think the idea of a workshop is awesome! How do you suggest we find/encourage people to run events?

Good suggestions, all of them....
Don't forget your towel!

Solid idea, Shawn!  I suggest we have a workshop maybe in October, after things cool down and before they heat up again.

Invite ANYONE interested, from all over

As far as designating a course pro or course TD, another good idea.  But I think they'd need to be solid club members. I don't want to designate a guy we just met, because there's no way of knowing his level of commitment.  Perhaps it will look something like this:

Brett-Fairfield

Jim-Bevier

Mirth-Wildwood

Jon-Adler

We could have about 12 for Parkside.  :)

Whatever. a breakdown like that just seems to make sense.

Another item for the meeting.

It has been discussed at past club meetings about running events at other courses in Lake County. It's a possiblity but not in the near future. With projects @ Wildwood, Bevier & Round Lake, time is an issue. Once those are done it could possibly happen.

Let us hope that the whores of evil no longer loiter on the doorsteps of your path beckoning you into the brothel of despair, and that here and after may present them with the most rigid manistfestation of a firm and manly will.

Shawn,

I told Brett I would work on the TD agreement after the IO was over. While a TD workshop might work, I think being an assistant TD is a good learning experience as well. Nothing like experience in the trenches!

Chaos: Jon and I have a solution for trophies that eliminates the risk of having left over trophies.  Come on up and see for yourself.

Have you gotten over to Trafalgar to play the Fly-18 course?  That course rocks!
