Has anyone thrown the new DX Big Bead Aviars or heard about them?  I know that Terry had some for the players pack at the GMO.

not surprising they would start to offer this in DX even though I haven't seen it yet.  I wonder if they will change the name of the KC Aviar since it has the same big bead mold.

Honestly I'd rather throw a wizard since it's the same mold as the aviar driver and I feel that it gives me the grip comparible to DX plastic and is more durable.

Sweet disc regardless, and as soon as it's available I'm sure it will sell very well.

is this any different from the star aviar drivers?

shouldn't be other than DX Plastic.

KC Pro Aviar and Star Aviar Driver have the big beads (comparable to a Gateway Wizard), all the rest have no bead (comparable to a Gateway Warlock).

An Aviar isn't really the same as a Wizard, but they are similar.  The Challenger too.

I ordered some of the Aviar Drivers for IOS 3.  If anyone wants one, I'll set one aside for you.

Aviar is like Warlock
Aviar Driver is like Wizard

cuz of the no bead vs. bead thing.  Challenger has the big bead too, right?

OK, I know this is a stupid question, but I'll ask anyway.  Didn't they already make the Big Bead in DX?

My plastic stash is old, and I know when I started playing the Aviar had the small bead.  But by the late 90's they added the Big Bead and made the KC & the regular Aviar in the Big Bead mold and left the Putt & Approach Aviar in the small bead.  I just pulled my everyday Aviar out of the bag, and it is a Big Bead DX Aviar.  I probably bought it eight to ten years ago.  I have four more in the basement that haven't made it to the bag yet.

All this Beadless-Small Bead-Big Bead-Classic-KC-JK-Star-Putt 'N Approach-Driver nonsense is driving me crazy.  If serious golfers can't keep this stuff straight, how is a newbie ever going to make sense of it.  You can't even recommend an Aviar to a new player anymore because nobody knows what "Aviar" means anymore.  At least GDS has the Wizard-Warlock names to differentiate the different molds.

lol.  I just posted in another thread threatening to throw away my Innova discs if they keep changing their discs every other day.  Applicable here too.

the new DX Aviar driver, as someone over heard Barry talking about them at the GMO, is basically a DX KC Aviar.  I just wanted to see if anyone has thrown one and if this comparison is true.

And a KC Aviar is basically an overpriced DX Aviar since it is made of DX blend plastic!   >:D

I think if you are using the same mold, it should have the same name, and if it is a different mold it should have a different name.  If you are using a particular kind of plastic it should have a name and if you are using a different kind of plastic it should have a different name.  Innova is producing three or four different kinds of Pro plastic right now, Pro Wraith Pro, Pro JK Pro, Pro KC Pro and Pro Rhyno Pro.  And they have three different kinds of discs called Aviars and now they have three different kinds of discs called Rocs because they a remaking the old Roc which should just tickle pink all the disc speculators who've been paying triple for those old Rocs!  They recently switched running the Stingray in Star plastic from the new mold to the old mold.  I used to throw Stingrays before some of you were born and I never realized there were two molds.  I thought the flat ones were just pulled out of the mold too soon!   ;D

Anyway, my last old mold Beast was not selling so I dyed Semiramus on it and I'll sell it to a patriotic casual.  Semiramus is the Egyption or Babylonian goddess that stands in New York harbor holding the torch, just so you know.

What about those of us who spent hours flipping through piles of Rocs to find the Ontario's and then stored them for 10 years?  Right when I started getting decent coin for them, Innova re-releases the disc!

Sorry, no one is answering you question.  I throw 9X KC Aviars, so they are old.  I also throw Big Bead DX Aviars, which are also old.  However, there is really no difference in the flight between the KC & DX Big Bead when new.  The KC hyzers out a little quicker and the DX glides a little longer, but they end up pretty close to one another on the ground.  Neither of them flip as easily as the small bead.  I've never thrown the beadless.  The KC does not beat as quickly, so unless I have switched my DX recently the KC is usually a bit more overstable.  I use a small bead putt & approach Aviar if I need the disc to turn, the DX if it is a pretty straight open shot, and the KC if I need some hyzer or if I'm on a wooded course that is going to eat up my DX plastic.  This of course is when I have not converted my bag to Magnets or Wizards (or 86 Softies when I get really desperate!)  That and the very little time work and family leave me to throw anymore explains why I'm walking around with 10 year-old Aviars in my bag.

Again, all these discs are 8-10 years old, so something might be different in the current run.  I hope that helps.
