sorry for your loss(es), and hopefully I won't be licking my own wounds later on this season.  For once I'm glad that I'm a fan of the team that isn't on the path to doom (at this point) for the season.

You can see that repeat agonizing seasons makes one question their confidence as noted with the side notes above lol.

Interesting how it's usually the same excuses for why a team is doing bad.  Those are all the same reasons the cubs season stunk last year.  good pitching + timely hitting always equals winning ball club.

I wouldn't blame the Sox playing badly this year because of injury, sure it doesn't help, but nobody was hitting.  As much as pitching wins championships, you still need hitting to get there.  Not to mention the bull pen outright sucks this year.  I'd even say that Jenks hasn't been good really either.  You can't predict for all of your hitters, 1-9 not hitting at all for a 2 month period.  Generally you will get 2-3 at a time going in a slump, not the whole team.  Can't expect to win when you can't score runs

Sox sweep a day/night doubleheader by coming back from a 7-1 deficit in the second game against the best team in baseball.  Not much to be excited about this season, but this is a high point among many low points.

If the Sox weren't so far behind, I'd say that yesterday, the 2nd game especially, could be a turning point to make a run, but they are too far out, and can only hope to get back to respectability.  If they can go over .500 the rest of the year, it will be a pretty decent improvement over the first half of the season.

ChiBlender36

not saying they will but there's a chance if they play really good baseball...the Indians almost caught the Sox during the World Series year and they were 13+ back so you never know

airspuds

thank god for football

go bears !

1-9  at the Cell this year

all i can say is " kiss the ring "

if they can get some prospects for some of teh free agents i say go for it

the loss of Crede is the biggest piece of teh puzzle missing from this team
but at least we get to see what Fields can do

back to "  the kids can play "  !!!!

Scotty Pods.... It is appaerent that if he stays healthy this team wins.  Not only the stolen bases, but the way the pitcher has to shift all his energy at watching him.  The doubles down the line he makes singles by getting to the ball...  I believe i heard the sox are 14-7 this year when Pods starts.  The Sox still have the rotation.  With Buehrle locked down, Garland, Vazquez.  John Danks has really been suprising for a fifth starter.  Remember the Danny Wright days.  Contreas is terrible, and that needs to be addressed.  Then the bullpen needs to be completly re-built.

The season is coming to an end very soon, unless we get hot.  White Hot.  Hopefully they make it intrusting.

QuoteMy prediction:  The Sox are going to suck and end up unloading payroll before the year is over.  Its going to be a depressing year Sox fans.  Your lineup stays the same as last year.  Thome had a great year after the hot start, but eventually his back acted up on him.  Realistically he could be a .280 30 hr guy this year, but no way will he be hitting 40 hr and 100 rbi again.  Dye just had a career year, he should be good again but probably not the same numbers as last year.  Overall I think it will not be a horrible lineup, but not quite as good as the Indians (Sizemore, Martinez,Hafner) or the Twins(Mauer,Morneau,Hunter,Cuddyer).

Sox pitching:  WTF?  Why did you trade your #1 prospect McCarthy?  Plus you lose Garcia who is a very consistent pitcher.  Between Buerhle, Garland, Contreras, and Vazquez, you have no ace on the staff.  Its just a bunch of mediocre starting pitchers, with very little upside.

In summary, the White Sox suck and their GM will continue to make baffling decisions this year as his teams heads back towards the cellar.

Man did I nail this White Sox season or what!!!

What do you have to say for your team now Pearso66?   ;D

They weren't good, but you were dead off about McCarthy and Garcia.  Garcia made 5 starts this year and got 1 win.  McCarthy got rocked early, then settled down in time to get hurt.  I don't think anyone could have predicted the entire team not hitting.  Yeah you called Dye, who by the way has been pretty good since the all-star break, and Thome, who started off hot, then got hurt. but nobody hit.  Not to mention injuries plagued the team.

Danks pitched really well at the beginning of the year, and should have at least 5 more victories, he had all of 1 run of support his first 4 games.  Buehrle had a decent year, Vazquez has been good.  Garland not so much, same with Contreras.  At least we will get to see what the young guys can do, and see if Floyd will pan out for next year.  If not, at least we got 2 players for a guy who would be gone after this season.  And Gio Gonzalez was the 3rd rated lefty prospect at the beginning of the year.

If they would have hit at the beginning of the year, they would be in 3rd, probably not in the race, but not as bad off as they are now.  The first 2 months the pitching staff was outstanding, but no hitting.  Then the bullpen started sucking, and the starters lately have been bad, probably because of overuse because of the lackluster bullpen.

One big upside to the year was Buehrle's no-hitter, followed up by Buehrle getting resigned.  With all the speculation he was going to be gone, it will be great to have him for another 4 years.

Oh well, this is the first really bad team I have ever witnessed as a Sox fan (have seen many being a Bulls and Bears fan also).  I'll take 1 bad year every 15-16 years than one every 2-4 years.

airspuds

they looked bad sat night at cleveland ( 2 hits)
but it was still worth it to go on the road and see them
ive seen lots of bad teams so this year isnt the end of the world
especially with the other teams in the division playing well

i guess we should hope for a watered down division where .500 baseball gives one hope of a first world series victory in 98 years   oh no thats the cubs

went to wrigley last night in sox jersey and sox hat - only got grief from 3 people  ( one who was a little to touchy feelly for my liking)

still biggest outdoor bar ive ever seen and the fans were not into it all

i thought they were in  a pennant race

nice flip flop by carlos zambrano after a meeting with cub honchos

still have to rip the cubs when the white sox are 1 game out from having the worst record in all of baseball this year?

I wonder what the over-under is on if the white sox can do better than 7-15 on their final 22 games of the year.  If they go 7-15 their final record will be the same as the cubs' 2006 season.  From a percentage points basis right now Sox are on pace for 68-94.  Not a fun year for Sox fans, I completely understand how that goes!

The Sox have absoultely stunk this year.  Complete meltdown.  I am really on the fence about Ozzie.  On one hand I beleive only the manager can be responsible for such a turnaround.  Yet, I think Ozzie should get one more year.  I still want him shouting, ranting and raving.  If anything, he has been too restriained.  After watching this team the only things I can think of are @#$% and ^&#@.  He pretty much sums it up everytime he opens his mouth.

Like Spuds, I wear my Sox hat whenever I am invited to the tavern at Clark and Addison.  Most fans are cool.  Its win/win for us.  If the Cubs win that's ok with me.  If they lose, I get a laugh.  Today was one of those days.  Its a blue day in Cubbieville.  The Dodgers moved faster on Dempster than the 250 bus. It was brutal.  I have not done the math.  Does anybody out there know if its possible to win the NL Central with a sub .500 record? The contenders might play each other often enough to make it impossible but I am not sure.  It sure looks that way right now.  I like Pinella and I like the way he has tried to change the culture of the team.  Whatever happens they are still much better than last year ( and yeah,  much better than my misbegotten White Sox) but this Dodger series did not show a team that's going to be playing next month.

Dan Michler

I'm willing to bet anybody 50 bucks that Ozzie is not the Sox manager in 2012......

That's a pretty safe bet.  As if he made it to 2012, he would have been the Sox manager for 9 years.  Which in recent history (don't know much about early 1900's), there have only been 2 Sox Managers that were there for 9 years or more.  One for 9 and another for 12.  Although Reinsdorf said that Williams and Guillen would be his final management team, so does that mean he is going to step down in 2012 and stick with those 2? or is he going to step down earlier than that?  Who knows.

i'd rather be last on the south side than first on the north

even if cubs win out they wont have wins more than the sox did last year

even if the cubs win it all this year, it would be about time
only 100 years between championships (not bad )
and it will have only taken what like  300 million in payroll additions

i think Derosa is the MVP this year as he has done everything asked

go brewers !

Mike,

You are nuts. # of wins don't mean shite. Just ask the Cardinals how many regular season wins they had last year. You better hope the White Sox spend some $ next year otherwise it'll be the same ole story. That division isn't going to get easier.

Don't be jealous that our team has 300 million to spend because we have 10 times more fans than you dirty ass losers.  I don't think the record book puts the payroll next to the World Champion, so who cares!!!!

Way to bring up how many wins the Sox had LAST year   :D  There is a reason its called LAST year.   If the Packers win the division this year I hope I never say to a Packers fan, 'hey but we had more wins last year than you have this year'.
