We need a volunteer that is good with newsletters. We have someone that is willing to compose the monthly club newsletter. We are looking for someone to take that information and make a professional looking newsletter with graphics. Our newsletter goes out to 500+ disc golfers in the Midwest. We are looking at selling ad space on these. Does someone have these skills?

Fox Metro Discer

I would be happy to help write articles for the newsletter, although I do not have the time available to spearhead the project.

Electronic distibution, right?  If no one else comes forward I would be willing to do the layout, publish it as a .pdf, and email it to a list.  I am not the person to write copy or solicit ads.  Also please note that I am not an artist and have no sense of what looks good, so someone with those skills would be a better choice than I.

If there is a chief I am willing to be an Indian.  I can write an edit copy. My wife, who does this for a living, will tell you that the previous sentance was a lie. In any case, I am willing to help manipulate words and text.  I cannot commit to a leadership role.

skipache

i would like to write articles on....
new discs
courses
tournaments
whatever..

i think what we might explore doing is creating a committee to get all the jobs done and have resonably frequent meetings so that one person isnt swamped with work to do.. idk but as mr. Barish previously stated i would have to be an Indian as well

well don't you really just need one template that you can drop text into?  I guess you would want to add some pictures of recent events and stuff like that every now and then.  The ad space would just need to be an area that is left semi-blank on the original template and make availability to have a graphic dropped in there.

I might be able to help out some, but my time is usually stretched out extremely thin.

That's why I volunteered!  :D

We have some volunteers that could write up the newsletter every month. The more the  merrier though.

We are looking for a prefessional looking newsletter similar to the PDGA newsletter that goes out. I'm hoping to sell some ad space for disc companies or charge a minimal fee for local td's to add their event info to the newsletter.

You want an HTML email newsletter?  Then I'm out.  A major problem with HTML email newsletters is that it's very difficult to create a newsletter that looks as intended in the various email programs out there.  Web designers know how hard it is to make a web page look just so simultaneously in various flavors of IE, Firefox, Opera etc.  Well, it's worse with email.  If you're willing to go with a .pdf attachment to an email, then I can produce it complete with photos, ads, tournament results, provided copy, relevant links, etc..

If you're looking for an html newsletter and you're willing to pay for the services, look into Constant Contact. It's the same thing that Marshall Street uses. We also use it here at the university. I think someone else that I receive emails from uses it but I can't recall right now.

You pay depending on the number of email addresses you mail to. Very easy to use and it has different templates to choose from. It looks like up to 500 contacts is $15/month. Might be worth it if you're selling ad space.
