I'm not sure if my schedule will allow me to play this year, but sanctioned or not I highly recommend this Ice Bowl.  Last year's event was very well run and lots of fun.  Good people, home cookin', windbreaks around the shelter, and it's tough to beat that fire pit at Jericho Lake!

Aaron thanks for the quick reply. It looks like it is going to be a great event.

Yeah I just got home from a week in the hospital so the wife is letting me play catch up with this Ice Bowl event while I heal. The Packer game today sure didn't do me any extra healing, just hurting. Mainly my stomach. I think they made me sick again.Yep, iI am sure of it, they made me sick alright!!!!!!!

Am working with Disc Golf U on a possible sponsorship as well.

Disc Golf U is promoting itself as "the premier disc golf handicapping service." Their company is offering a free 6 month membership with this service to all players participating at the Ice Bowl. Here is the link http://discgolfunited.com/index.cfm.

Check out what they are offering and let me know what you guys think.

That was weird seeing you type that out. Disc Golf U was the old name of my up and coming website until I sold it to ZoneDriven and the guys over there. Now back to the on topic...looking forward to the ice bowl!

IBEW Local #461 has decided to sponsor this tourney as well, so there will be at least $100 added to the pro payout as well the amateur divisions as well!!!

How is the course holding up with all the melting that is going on?  Are all the holes going to be playable on Saturday?

What was the overall amount of snow that was still on the ground in Aurora? I know that at work in Oak Brook we had maybe 2 inches (in most cases only 1) of snow on the ground whereas at home in Algonquin there was at least 4-5 that all melted.

With that said, that could be encouraging for the course conditions.  It's definitely going to be muddy, but hopefully Wed-Friday will be enough time to dry out some of the wet from the melt and any rain that falls today or tomorrow.

i think 1 inch of snow is equivalent to like 10 inches or 9 feet of water or something like that though.

I was out yesterday and it looks like the fairway on 17 is a mini lake. Other than that there is some mud, but the remainder of the course is very playable.
Due to the water on 17, we will be playing 17's short tee to 18's basket. There will be a few alternate holes as well. The one used last year for the Ice Bowl will be there as well as another that is used regularly at leagues. From 9 short a hyzer for you righties to an opening that follows the curvature of the lake.
Regular 9 will be played from the long tees.

1" water correlates roughly to 7" snow.

So...where is this tournament being played? I quickly read through the whole thread and the flyer and didn't see it mentioned. Is Jericho Lake a course or a town? I'm confused here with all this other non tourney specific talk. To get back up to speed, can the specifics all be posted again?

Thanks!

I saw the same thing on the flyer.  It really doesn't say anything about whrere. The clue is the word "Jericho".  Jericho Lake is a course in the city of Aurora.
