What a great time to be a Packer fan. I liked the Lambeau Leap cam that they had in the stands. Go Giants!!!

Spike, that Bears/Packers game must have been a great game to go to being a Bears fan. I was thinking about going, I am so glad that I didn't. Did you make it up to Lambeau and go to Favre's Steakhouse? The Packers with their second stringers  put a hurt on the Lions.

Alright, I think I have had enough time to grieve before posting here, so here we go.
I cannot believe how the Giants hand wrapped the game for the Pack and yet they managed to give it away. If not for the ineptitude of the offense in the second half, they should have won the game easily. Not to mention the awful play of Al Harris on the receiving core as well. They had a total of 3 incompletions the entire game when he was thrown at. You cannot expect to win a game if the opposing team catches everything thrown at them. Granted there were a couple of great throw that were placed perfectly, but Al was turned around on quite a few of them as well.
Oh well, next year right?
From my friend in Milwaukee, Farve has stated that there is an 85% chance he will be back next year as well. I have heard multiple times that he believes the youth on this team can get to the promised land nest year. Let's see...

2 interesting nuggets that I've heard recently:

1) During the game they said that Al Harris was quoted to say that Plaxico Burress is the hardest wide out that he has ever faced... that was definitely proven on Sunday.
2) I heard sometime during the week the comment that ever since Jeremy Shockey has been hurt Eli Manning hasn't sucked.  That's a very interesting thought.  Maybe Eli always felt pressured to throw to Shockey or something, but with him gone things have surprisingly gone very well...

Pack didn't deserve that one the way they played 2nd half.  I'm VERY surprised that even with the NY front line that they still didn't pound the ball with Grant.

Hopefully it will be warmer on Feb 3rd and I can go throw some rounds... won't have any desire to watch TV, that's for sure.

I totally agree with you Scott!

The Giants are going to get crushed by the Patriots, unless for some miraculous reason, they decide to study the tapes from a few weeks ago, and figure out some way to stop Laurence Mauroney.  Otherwise, we will continue to hear about "Destiny's Team"!  I am getting so sick of hearing that the Patriots are the best team ever.  What can I say?  I am still not over Sunday's loss.

NO need to watch the SuperBowl this year.  Disc Golf?  Of Course!

Now now, the Super Bowl is always a fun evening, if not just for the commercials. I'm sure most of us would even watch it if it was the Ravens vs. the Dolphins or something horrible like that!

I personally thought Sunday's Packer game was awesome!  That was domination from start to finish by the Giants (just look at time of possession and total yardage).  The Packers got some serious luck to even be in the game much less make it to OT.  Its not every day you get a DB to fall down and give you a 90 yard TD when you couldn't even move the ball before that.

'06 Bears  NFC Champions and 1-1 vs. the Packers.
'07 Packers  NFC title game losers and 0-2 vs. the Bears

I'm definitely not going to say the Giants have NO chance to win.  Did they not just play this same team a few weeks ago when the only team with real motivation to win the game was the PATS?? Only a late 4th quarter drive got the Pats a 38-35 win.  The Pats have not really dominated either team they have played in the playoffs even with home field advantage.  The next game is on neutral ground.  I'm not calling for a blowout as the Pats haven't really been blowing teams out other than the Steelers and Dolphins since Week 11.

I predict the Pats win, but in a close game.  The Giants will definitely cover the 2 TD spread.

Just wondering.  How many were suprised that there was not a booth review of the ball that Plaxico Burriss appeared to catch just before the end of the first half.  He hit the ground and the ball squirted out.  I think he caught it, conttrolled it and the ball was down by contact on the two yard line. I think the Pack got lucky on that call.

I will admit that I was rooting for Tyne to miss the third kick because I wanted to see if Coughlin's head would explode.  I agree with Dan- Pats win but Giants cover.

If I remember the play, there was something with it that made it to be a type of play that could not be challenged or reviewed and the on-field call is what stays.  It was really confusing, but something about a receiver diving for a ball that was jarred out by hitting the ground and not by contact from another player means that it can't be reviewed.  If someone has studied up the rules of when a play could be challenged or not, feel free to shed some light on the situation!

In the last two minutes the coaches cannot demand a review.  However, the review official can decide to do so.  If the reciever has posession before he hits the ground its a catch. If he has possession and hits the ground and the ball pops out due to the impact with the ground (which is what happened) its not a fumble but the ball is simply down where it hit. That is what it looked like to me and that is why I was surprised that the review offical did not decide to look at it again.

Dan Michler

The catch defnitely could have been challenged.  Whether or not a ball is caught and controlled is always challengable.  Fumbles can't be reviewed if the play is whistled dead when the runner hits the ground.  I think this is why you see the refs let alot of plays go that they would otherwise say the runner was down before the ball came out.  If they let it go, then you can always look at the video and get it right.

I think they should make pass interference and catches where the receiver is pushed out of bounds before his feet come down reviewable plays in the future.  Also, they should just go to the college system and let all plays be reviewed by officals in the booth.  Forget challenges.  This way is much quicker.

It was a great season for the Packers. This may have been the season that I have enjoyed the most in 50 years of being a Packer fan. It was completely unexpected. I didn't expect the Packers to do much at all and they exceeded my expectations tenfold. Brett broke some major records this year including the one I didn't think he would get, which was the most yardage.

Sure he broke the record for most interceptions, but with all his other records that one was bound to fall too. At least he kept throwing. The Packers have been lucky to have such a great quarterback all these years. I am hoping that he comes back next year but who knows.

As far as the game went, it was disappointing to be sure, but at least it wasn't heartbreaking. The Packers didn't play well on offense or defense, they were lucky to be in the game at all. The Giants played well and the Packers were playing catch up all night.  I thought they were on the bad end of a couple of calls but I will have to watch the game to see the replays.

I am disappointed that they lost, but I am extremely happy that they had the year that they did.

CEValkyrie

That was an exciting game. Packer fans should be happy they lost. It will save them the embarassment of playing the Patriots. The AFC is dominant and the Patriots will make history.

I hope Brett Favre retires after this one. It would be great seeing him go out with an Interception. I want all the Packer fans to feel the pain of not having a hall of fame quarterback running the show.

Dave and Scott,

The rule as I understand it now, is that if the receiver dives for the ball, the reciever must a) control the ball in the air and b) maintain possesion after hitting the ground. If it was the old rule of simple possession, that would have been a fumble by Burress (as he was not touched by anyone on the Packers) and it would have been Packers ball.

Stenky....

P.S. The Pack were completely outplayed in that game. The better team that day won the game.

I changed my mind, the Pats are going to annihilate the Giants even though I'd like to see the Giants win.
