A few solid points/goals, but too idealistic.

The whole one division concept is flawed, but will prob be a reality in 5-10 years. More and more I hear that players need to be forced into their proper category/division. Again, this would be ideal, but for for a few years, because this sport is still so grass-roots in terms of organization and communication. Not to mention that the money just isn't there yet. Major sponsorships on every level need to be cultivated for a REALLY successful National Tour. And, sorry Davey Mac, but rules are rules are rules. Falling putts are NOT courtesy violations. They are CHEATING. Rules need to be upheld in every level of tourney; making things all warm and fluffy doesn't bring out the sponsors (or the top competitive players).

But at least this writer wasn't playing "Nostradiscus".

A whole lot of fuzzy math in that scenario.  How does a top pro tournament attract 1000 spectators and take in $18,000 in entry fees but only manage to add $1,765 to the pro purse?  What was the sports marketing firm doing?  If each spectator is charged $10, for which he gets a commemorative and throwable Z-plastic disc, we already have $5000 to add to the purse.  Set up a stand selling dogs and pops and we now have another $3000 easy.  But where did those 1000 spectators come from?  Nothing in Dave's proposed rule changes is going to draw blood so is he thinking big growth in player base?  Or mando gator wrestling after each nine?  Anything that will draw 1000 spectators to gator infested swampland has got to be big enough to be on TV!

Run the am-only supertour the week before, or simultaneously on other courses, and you can skim another $5,000 off their entry fees while still paying them 100% at retail.  Dave must play a lot more tournaments than he runs.
