I really like this small 9 hole course. It has some slight elevation change with 1 blind shot down hill. 4 holes are 300+ with dirt tees. Saw the baskets have been taken out to repair this winter so wait for spring if you want to play there.

Bruce and I were out there yesterday. Played a couple of holes and then practiced throwing for distance in the soccer field. I haven't played there since last fall, and I realized how good playing in the winter at Bevier was for my game. A lot of the holes seemed shorter and easier. The trees that I always judged as being the markers for my putting range were "closer" to the basket. Of course Bevier is so much more of a technical course and BG is very open in comparison.

this and clark park r my home course. they r both small and nice.... last summer there was a problem with kids stealing disc and riding away on there bikes. but that was in the summer so watch out i lost a disc that way it kinda sucked.

best i have shot there is a 20. i ace 7 on the second round.

Was just there for my first time today.

Felt like I was shooting midrange everytime I teed off but it was alot of fun

Played two rounds there today. If I have a "home" course, this is it. They have started putting in forms for new tees. They look like the kind of forms that  you'd take out after finishing the tee, but I don't know for sure what they will put in the forms.

Saw some guys out there that looked like they were playing best shot. I was going to talk to them, but they let me play through and I thought it would be a bit lame to start up a conversation with them while they were waiting for me. If any of them are lurking out here and you want to invite more people to play, this is a good forum to do it. Just post the time, day, place and format.

hey guys new here i played in leagues 2 weeks ago and then went to wildwood u guys. they put in new tee pads here. they r nice really big

I played on 8 of the 9 new tees yesterday and today. When the tees were put in, the HS kids from senior ditch day did a little vandalizm. They buffed out some of it but #6 needed to be redone. It was poured Wednesday, I think. The tee pads are HUGE but they are great to play on![/font]

I'm heading out that way tomorrow after work. My grandfather stays at The Claremont nursing home over on Weiland Rd., and I usually visit him on Thursdays. Turns out that Willow stream is right around the corner from him.
Is there a map of the course anywhere or anything I should know about the course?

 Thanks,
 John B.

I'll be there tomorrow John. You don't really need a map of the course. Once you find #1 it's easy to follow. The parking lot off Old Checker Road is NOT where you want to go. The entrance is on the pool side of the park. The name of the road is Farrington or Fairington or Farthington or something like that. The first time you get there by wandering around in the subdivision until you find it. Otherwise you can do a mapquest search from the corner of Elmhurst Road and Buffalo Grove Road. Look just south west of the intersection for the course.

Hi Jon,
Thanks for the tip. I'm not sure what time I'm going to be there. I might play first and then go see my grandpa or vice-versa. The earliest I would be there is 4:30-ish.
I'm gonna print up the map right now.

Thanks again,
John B.

Well, went out today to try out the BG course. Was a little hard to find, but I didn't drive around too long.

Lots of players, some of which didn't exactly portray disc golfers as the happy polite group we like to think we are. One guy was actually perched on the basket on #9 like a damn monkey, goofing with his buddies.

2 other guys saw some of their friends and let me play through, that was nice of them.

The course is deceptively long for my noodle arm. Holes in which I thought I'd blow past on my drive, were WELL short of the basket.

#1 was difficult for me, I'm no good up hills, always throw short. 4 was my best. :(
#2 was pretty cool. Got a 2 the second time around.
#3 was interesting with the trees and bushes. Got a 2 the second time thru.
#4 seems short, but it's a decent toss for me. 3 was best I could manage.
#5 Basket doesn't seem that far away. My second shot was so short, it was embarrassing.
#6 throw right to avoid the trees, and got a 2 the second time around.
#7 Second time, tried a sidearm over the running path, scored a 2. Have to keep watch for runners and bikers.
#8 Darn trees...
#9 More of the same.  :(

After my second time thru, a guy driving on #1 missed my car by 2 parking spots...time to go.

Went back later about 7pm, place was packed. Headed for home.

All in all, I'll play it again next time I'm out to see grandpa, but I doubt we'll make a special trip. Still a decent short course.

Thanks Jon for the heads up!

John B.

Jon Brakel

It's not a special trip kind of course. I play it because it's minutes away from home. I try to talk to the kids there and teach them to take care of the course. I clean up after them and I hope they notice--I know they don't litter when I'm right there picking stuff up. I've picked up about 20 cans and cups in just one round at that course some days.

I did notice a lot of trash, but it was at least piled near the tee-pads for easy pick up. Not sure if that was your doing or not.

Yea, it's a nice course. If it wasn't packed at 7pm, I would have played until dark. But then again, I'm a bit anti-social. <_<

Mike

i really like the BG course, i've met a lot of really cool people there, and the only people that seem to make problems are the dumb high school kids...

if I dont ace 7 by the end of the summer i might go crazy, i've hit the pin 3 times with forehands over the path....  and i can finally drive past the trees on 8, which is a major improvement from my first time playing there...  see you guys out there

That's the only hole that I have multiple aces on. Both aces were right-hand, back-hand anhyzer's down the path.

Mike, say hello to me if you ever see me. I'm the fat guy with the cart...hard to miss me if I'm there.
