doubles leagues (lombard, oakbrook)

I was just wondering how a typical best shot doubles league is played out. i have yet to attend one and my game is becoming greater and greater so within the next couple of weeks i would like to go however,  i would just like to be prepared when it happens. i will either be playing the madison meadows or oakbrook (central park i think) courses. thanks and disc free.

Here's the run down.
Be a few minutes early so that you can sign up and pay. Also a great time to ask any questions you have.
Depending on the league the entry fee may or may not include ace pots, CTPs, course use fees etc. You have to ask each organizer.
Some leagues have one pool, others have an upper/lower division. Oak Brook and Lombard both have only one.
Random draw is typically done by drawing cards. (e.g. Red 3's are paired, Black 3's are paired).
Your starting hole is usually determined by the card you drew as well (e.g. 3's on 3, 4's on 14, etc.)
If you are new to the sport, I would recommend reading the official PDGA rules. Some leagues let things slide (e.g. flipping a disc to mark the lie, gimmes, tossing discs to your buddy), but it is a good idea to keep yourself from falling into those habits if you think you may play tournaments in the future.

For best shot, each player on a team throws their drive, followed by the other team. You and your partner choose which of those two shots to take and then both throw from that lie. Your team is done with the hole when one of you holes out.

Sometimes there is an odd number of players. This player is called the Cali. The Cali player can take two shots from only one of their lies per hole. (e.g. Throw one tee shot, one upshot, two attempts at the putt). When throwing two shots, the Cali can choose the first or second toss to use for their next lie.

When you are done, make sure the card is added up and brought back to the start. For tournaments, cards should always be added up with the actual number of throws. Most doubles leagues just count the number of throws above/below par where 3 is used as the par for every hole.
