Great courses, great weather, great people, great fun!

From what I saw, logistics were handled very,  very well.  Amazing job with organization, scoring, lunch, basktes, etc.  Kudos and thank you to all involved.

Brett, that temp layout was sweet!  You are the goto guy in course design.  Any courses in the Chicago area that don't solicit your input are missing the boat!

Scores for today are up.

http://www.pdga.com/tournament/tournament_results.php?TournID=7349&year=2008&includeRatings=1#Open

Ratings should be accurate because I took the time to put all three courses in and assigned the rounds by division and what division played what course each round.

It seems to me that things are going TOO well. Although this is much more work than our normal tournament it is doable and not too stressful.

The staggered starts are great and Brett's temp course, which I named Brettopia, is the best IOS course EVER!

Thanks for doing this all so quickly Jon! I wonder if the ratings would be different for the west course today if the advanced/open divisions were split up into separate groups.

VERY well run tournament everyone, thanks again.

One of the most fun tournaments I've ever played.  Knowing how much planning and work went in beforehand by the TD's, it was awesome to see it all come together and run so smoothly.  Thank you to Bruce, Jon, Brett, and Mirth for this tournament.  I would love to see another A tier next year, it really was a ton of fun.  From what I could tell, most everybody had a great time.

Also, thanks to Adrian Sr. who really goes out of his way to help with alot of the dirty work that nobody wants to do.

I sucked on the temp course, but I did take a THREE on the 969 ft. hole.   ;D  Definitely a hole I'll remember!

TREMENDOUS job by the entire staff!
THANK YOU SO MUCH!
Please have this event every year.
All courses played great and BRETTOPIA was a thing of beauty: some short, some long, some pretty tough.

Much thanks also to GRABM and all the work those folks do at Anna Page all year long!!!

One suggestion for next year:  Don't let Clark drive the gator!   ;D

I want to start out by thanking the Rockford Park District. They treated us like professionals. The use of the pavillion, letting Bruce stay over night with the merch,  use of the shed, and use of the gator made things much easier for the staff.

I want to thank the players. If it weren't for you this event would not happen. As long as players continue to show up i'll continue to do what I can to keep the series and the A-Tier alive. I appreciate many of you who went out of your way to thank many of the volunteers. The postive comments overshadowed some of the negativity you get at events. I felt good this morning waking up. I am always open for constructive criticism whether it's private or in public.

I want to thank the staff. An event like this takes many people to pull off. Below are the people that made it happen. I am sorry if I miss someone.

Player Handbook
Scott Pitner & Mike Krupicka. They both worked very hard to get this completed. They looked great.
Dan Michler-Thanks for working hard at work to have them printed  ;D.

Bruce/Jon. Thank you! We went thru some stressful times discussing logistics, etc.. You guys made it a fun weekend. If it werent' for these guys some of the ideas that you see at the IOS would never happen. They aren't afraid to go against the norm you see at other events.

Jon--Scoring-This guy is amazing at the online scoring & processing.
Mike Krupicka-Scoring/Sorting/King of CTP's Awesome job as usual Mike.
Mirth-Scoring-Thrown into the fire at a big event and did a fantastic job.
Maddisen--Scoring--How many freshman girls do you see at events that contribute to scoring & sorting? She is very good at it!
Mirth--Registration/Check-in--Awesome job! Thanks for extending the deadline.

Becky--Registration/Scoring/Others--Never misses an event. Always does a fantastic job.

Bruce/Kiralyn/Diana-Merchandise. Wow-very tough job to set-up, supervise, and take down. Bruce did not leave the park from Friday morning until Sunday night. UNREAL!

Bruce/Diana/Becky/Adrian Sr-Lunch. This is the one area I was not sure could be pulled off. The lunches were pretty close to arrival times. Great work!

Mike Lascola/??-Thank you for getting the pins moved on the east course!
Adrian Sr., Tom M., Dan M., Mike Clark, David Barish, & Tom S.--These guys did an awesome job! Adrian Sr. made the tee signs. Wow! We knocked out the course setup on Friday in 3 hours. Set up and tear down went fast!

Baskets-Discontinuum, Brett C., Mike C., Tom M., Kurt K., Scott P., Juan L., Sergio C., Tom S., Mike K., Dana V., Spike W., & Dave N. Without you guys we would not have been playing the 3rd course. Thank you so much for making arrangements to get the baskets to/from the course.

1000rated.com- Thanks Brian for all the quick updates on the website.

Its a shame it all went so well.

With Bruce, Brett, Adrian, Diana, Madison not playing and with Jon still on the DL it was a cakewalk of efficiency.  Four pools, multiple divisions, about 200 players, pizza drivers coming and going and no balls fell to the ground while it was all juggled by the IOS team.  It all seems so easy.  Long ago I read a post by Bruce somewhere either here or PDGA where he said he likes to provide tournaments that he likes to play.  In order to make magic this weekend he didn't get to play.  It just couldn't be done.  Brett had to be salivating to compete against a strong open field with some highly rated players.  He did have a childish look of glee in his  eye evrytime he drove the cart to pick up baskets.  Weee!!  Mirth has small kids and doesn't get a chance to play lots of tournaments.  He took a weekend away from the family to provie computer and accounting support and a thousand other background tasks that the players never see. They didn't play, they just put on a show and what a show it was.  I marveled at how well groups went from one course to the other and how lunch was ready  how Jon smirked as he had scores, AND RATINGS, posted before we finished lunch to go to our next round. It takes a mom to feed 200 kids for  lunch and Diana did it seemingly effortlessly. The A tier was geat and I hope it happens again. However, the reality is that an A tier means people who love to  play cannot play.

This doesn't mention the legion of club volunteers, the usual suspects who play but really don't get a chance to practice because they are doing something to help the cause like Clark, Michler and McManus helping Brett organize 18 loaned baskets or Krupicka working the Score Ports.   Becky and Madison working the registration table. The Rockford crew knew the circus was coming to town and they knew how to go out and GRABM! I was at the course a couple weeks ago when Duain was sort of playing but mostly spray painting arrows to help us find the next tees.  Carl and the rest had the old school baskets on the east course in very, very good repair.  Thanks for all the new links to the chain.

Players helped too.  The dozens and dozens of regular IOS players all contributed in some way bringing in the CTP cards, buying the CFR discs, paying attention at the players meeting, keeping an eye on something while one of the staff ran to the bathroom or whatever.  The great attitude of everybody at the course added to the overall experience.  It was great to see old  and new faces in Rockford.

Just in case you didn't hear it over the weekend, here it is- Thanks guys!

JCthrills

Kudos to all involved, very very smooth A-tier from the players point of view.  AND this was the farthest IOS from Indy (I think... Kenosha may have been slightly farther) yet I finally arrived home before Midnight Eastern time!!!! I'm not totally dragging butt today!

SERG

Not too much to add that hasn't already been said so I'll keep it short:

THANK YOU

...to all those that did even the smallest thing to help this event run smoothly;
...to Mother Nature for giving us a great two days to play such an event;
...to Carla for getting up early and coming with me to course even though she didn't tee-off for another 4 hours;
...to all the guys I had a chance to play with.

Staggered starts: Great
Lunch included both days: Great
Online updates: Super Fast
Winning a playoff to take home a sweet trophy: Awesome (sorry Mike  ;))

Thanks, again.

Thanks to Brett, Bruce, Diana, Jon, Becky, Kira, Maddisen, Mike, Dan, Tom, Adrian, Chris, David, and anybody else whom I forgot and has ever helped out to make our events the successes they are.
Without the players and TDs willing to direct them none of these events would be possible.

Thanks to Mother Nature for keeping the rain away from Rockford until today! =)

I hope some day I'll get a chance to play Brettopia. If its half as good as all the comments I heard about it I'll be nothing less than astounded.

Thanks to Dan for putting up with me as his partner for doubles on Friday night and putting up the -9 to take first!
Don't forget your towel!

Paizzon

Like Serg said, not much more to add that hasn't already been said but I want to personally say THANKS VERY MUCH to ALL that had any part in putting this tourny together. I don't think it could have been any better.

Again, nice job on the playoff Serg. Can't think of a nicer guy to lose to.

Thanks again. This weekend rocked.
