Morton Pumpkinfest "C-tier" PRO/ADV-Sunday, September 14

Pumpkinfest is always a fun tournament!  As most of you know, Morton is a great course.  I would advise going to Oswego Saturday and then Pumpkinfest on Sunday.  Another great weekend of disc golf for Illinois.  (Saturday is unsanctioned for all other divisions.)

2 rounds of 18 holes(first round short, second round long)

Divisions: Open, Open Women, Open Master, Advanced, Advanced Women, Advanced Master

I saw the DGTV footage from the Justin Trails tourney last year, that looks like a sweet couse.  I think the payouts were huge as well.  That should be fun, Tom.  Glad you're all healed and ready to golf!

Not healed, but ready for golf. I have been wearing a sling on my left arm when I play. That is the only time I wear the sling right now. I have to go back for x-rays in a couple of weeks to see if the bone is healing. If it isn't healing I will have to have surgery.

I can't raise my left arm over my head, but I never did throw too many lefty thumbers.

I would hit these tournaments but I'll be up in Sparta for the Justin trails Open as well.

The wife and I got engaged up there a couple years back, what an amazing place to visit. The courses are top notch,
cant wait to play Big Brother...over 3 miles! I'll be leaving to head up there tonight after work.

What a mess this was. 63 people played on Saturday, Intermediate & Novice. No rain in am round but it poured for rd #2
Sunday, TOTAL OPPOSITE, Poured on us in the am, but no rain round #2. Only 12 people showed up on Sunday, while only 10 finished.

Clark Wright from Springfield won the OPEN Division, and $120.00. He won by 1 stroke.
I finally won in Advanced after not winning one since 1998 Channahon.


Not a good turnout, or preferred weather for anything but sitting home on the couch watching football. But when you committ by pre registerring, why throw away the $20.00??

I was in Gridley recovering from a wedding. It was pouring. All I thought about is how brutal it would be playing Morton. How as hole #5?

Very interesting with Cedar Lake.

I talked to a player last night that lives several hours from Cedar Lake. He called Saturday night and Brian told him it was 100% on. I also heard there was no lightning and the TD cancelled because he thought people would get stuck there due to the flooding. It sux for those that traveled from Indy, MI, & STL. Doh!

If the flooding had been just 10 percent worse, Brian would look like a genius canceling because people would have been stranded or it would have taken them 10 times longer to get home.

I remember the second tournament that Bruce and I went to at Riverside in Hammond (the first tournament that we went to at Riverside was uneventful and I don't remember it other than that I played it). It was the precursor to the Homie and was just called whatever they called that tournament at the time. But Homie's Mom was there and it was raining and 3 of the holes were under water or partially under water. Brian setup two extra holes and we played one of the partial under water holes. I say "we" but I didn't play. Bruce played and I caddied for him. I wasn't sure if I wanted to play in those conditions but I was willing to get my feet wet and keep Bruce's bag from getting wet. Anyway, we played the first round and Homie's Mom and family fed us lunch and then Brian canceled the second round because the park people were afraid the river was going to flow over the banks at any moment. This was NOT the Riverside tournament that was completely flooded...that was a couple of years later, I believe.

I spotted on hole #5 for Saturdays divisions, and it was very dangerous at the cliffs edge. They had a choice if lie was on it, to take a stroke and tee from red tee(ams).  My shot slid about half way down the 2nd round. Took a good 7-10 minutes to just get to it safely,  lol.. Lost a disc there in round 1, cause the creek was WHITE CAPPIN. It didn't make it thru the dam down by hole #2, so after rain was done in 2nd round the creek let up, and found the disc after tourny was over, at the dam.

I agree. You know that if we had people show up for an IOS it would be game on. I was just saying I understood what Brian was thinking. They closed 80/90 near there and I think it's still closed. Just a little more rain and people would have had a bitch of time getting home. But I agree, I would not want to be in the situation to make that call and I would not want to be the player that drove 200 miles to play.
