I heard this from a friend today.

The IHSA Girls State Golf Tournament was held this past weekend way down south in Wakanda, IL. Wakanda is near Carbondale, IL. Note the location

2 girls tie after regulation. They go to a sudden death playoff. Hole #1 is a par 5.

The girl from Deefield sticks her 4th shot 4 feet from the pin. The girl from Conant is 35 feet away putting for her 5. She knocks down this clutch putt to par the hole. The girl from Deerfield is over her ball going thru her routine. A cell phone goes off. She stands over her ball for a long time and never backs away. She was there for quite some time frozen. She hits the ball and it lips out. She turns around and sees the person on the phone. It was her dad. DOH! She goes crazy and starts yelling at him. He starts yelling at her and all hell breaks loose. This goes on for a bit and she yells at him I am not riding home with you, i'm taking the bus, and storms off. I guess the crowd was speechless.

Now that is some funny stuff.

Agreed! Almost as bad as someone missing a 10ft putt on Sunday and being told he missed because I blinked!

I never let outside things change what I was doing standing over hte ball in tournaments..made life as a golfer a whole heck of a lot easier to get through.

If at any time after I set my plant foot for my putt a "miss" thought enters my head, I'll stop setting up, step off from my plant foot, literally shake it off (like shake my arms and hands) and then start my process over. This only takes a second or two and doesn't happen very often but I think if you just stand there looking at the basket, the bad thoughts are going to start creeping in. I usually have a "miss" thought if something breaks my concentration connection from the basket.

lol, that's outta control

Knowing that you're a courteous golfer, I assume you weren't in his field of vision either, you must blink loudly   8)

You must not realize that a disc will fall out of the basket if you don't stare it down.

Were you wearing an orange shirt? Oh, wait...that rule is only for Damon and I.
