OMG!  They are playing Jon's Alternating Lie Best Shot the first round and straight alternating the second round.

I wish this were a lot closer.

In the history of disc golf it will never be remembered that I came up with that format...but at least you remember! Probably you and maybe Mark Ellis would be the only ones who would remember. I hope that they play with our rule where you can throw your partner's disc back to him after you have marked the lie or made your throw. That was part of the fun...it felt like breaking the rules!

Alternating lie best shot sounds like a great idea.

It was probably my best so far... ;D

A few years after I came up with that format some people in Michigan referred to it as Lizard Doubles because the Lizard Doubles series is where the format debuted. Bruce, Mark and I ran that tournament series with Mark being the figure head or the puppet master depending on your perspective. Anyway, some people called it Jon's Alternating Lie Best Shot because that's what Mark and Bruce called it. So at a tournament that Bruce and I and the rest of the Brakel team were running a few years later in Flip City some guy on my card was talking to me about his weekly league on his home course and that they recently started playing Jon's Alternating Lie Best Shot. He talked about how much fun it was and that it really balanced out teams and so forth. Once he got done I asked him why they call it Jon's Alternating Lie Best Shot. He answered: "Hmmm...I have no idea. Guess some guy named Jon thought it up."

It reminded me of that Jimmy Buffet song "I heard I was in Town".
