hey scott.  What time do u think that the second round will end saturday.  I have to work at 4:45 and i was wondering if i would be able to make it if i leave right after the second round.  If i cash or anything save it for sunday. Would this be possible?

stpitner

You're going to be cutting it close if you have to be at work at 4:45 no matter what tournament you'd play in.  I'd expect round 1 to start around 9:30-9:40.  if all goes well 1st round would be done around 12:30.  2nd round ideally would start at no later than 1:30 with finishing at 4:30.

If you started later then I'd feel better about it, but 4:45 is really cutting it close.  It really depends if we have a bunch of 3-somes, 4-somes, or 5-somes.  If they are all groups of 5, I'd say you wouldn't make it.  If it's mostly 3's and 4's, you'd probably be able to leave ok - just don't know how far you have to drive to get to work!

Obviously if you make it through both rounds and win something I can hold it to the next day.

Due to the amount of registrations - pre-reg extended to 8pm central time tonight!  I want to give as many people that want to play Sunday a chance so that you don't get turned away on Sunday.

A little bit of rain expected Saturday afternoon, but not too bad (they predict less than half an inch for the day, and for those of you at my Oswego tournament - compare that to the 6.5" that fell on THAT day.  Half an inch is like a misting!  Sunday looks great.

There are 30 people signed up for Saturday, 60 signed up for Sunday!  We max out at 105, so make sure to get signed up!!!

We had 49 players today, and more people signed up for Sunday putting pre-reg at 72 - nice job on pre-registering all!

I cap at 105 players ABSOLUTE MAX!!! It's still raining out here right now, but at some point tonight it's supposed to turn into snow.  I have no idea how much will be on the ground, but BE PREPARED.  I have no idea if there will be just a little bit of snow or a lot of snow.  PDGA events do not allow you to tape ribbon to your discs.

We are playing short tees in the morning, and they will be clean.  Depending on the warmup/melting, it will then determine if we play longs 2nd round or not.

Today we only played 20 holes.  There's a good chance that we'll only play 20 holes on Sunday as well - the max of 105 will include one floater group if necessary.

Hey Scott,

Snows kind of rough down in Bloomington this morning so I don't see getting on the roads. I'm pre-reg'd so if a refund is doable that would be cool. Understand if the answer is no at this stage, but wanted to at least see about the entry money. This is first time I've been reg'd for an event and won't be going so not sure what TD's usually do for no shows due to weather.

Hope the event still goes well.

Thanks,

Ben Douglas

Heh, I actually mentioned something about that during Sunday's player meeting.  I commented that I need to change the tournament because I apparently have no luck at all!

I'll comment more to other things later after I've had some sleep - sooooo tired.

Did you play shorts both rounds on Sunday?  Just wondering.  The ratings for the rounds seem pretty similar.

Scott, you seem to attract interesting weather.  In any case, nice job putting on this tournament.  I know that it must have been difficult just keeping your merch dry.  Nice job Frank Grimes on the upkeep of this course.  I had a chance to play with Frank all day on Saturday and told him that the course looks better every time I play it.  I would really like to get back in about a month when all the shrubs starts blooming. On every hole Frank is looking for loose papers, bottles etc and picking them up.  That wall on 15 is very nice.  Apparently, some local houligans had knocked it down and Frank had to rebuild it.  Most interesting moment of the day for me was when I threw a Sidewinder right over the head of a deer in the fairway on 14.  It was a baby and I was a little nervous that the mother would think I was attacking her baby.

I received a couple PM's that I had PDGA #'s incorrect on 2 players in Open - it will affect the round ratings slightly for everybody once I get these fixed.  My wife is currently in the process of sending me my TD report so that I can make the updates.

Sorry about the mixups - I have a light case of dyslexia it would seem (and it sucks because I love working with numbers), and I was also dead tired while adding the new players at 11:30pm last night!

We did short tees both rounds on Sunday because: 1) with the snow on the ground, only the short tees were cleared and we were unsure if the snow would melt off enough for the longs by the start of round 2 (they were good to go at the end of round 2, but not the start); 2) All of the AM's turned in 3 hour 1st rounds, but the pro's somehow managed to clock in at just under 4 hours.  I had already made the decision based off #1, but the long first round confirmed the decision because a round with longs starting at 2:30 tee time would have taken them until 6:30 potentially.  But the weather improved and everyone clocked in at just under 3 hours for round 2.

Many thanks to the crew that helped me run this thing over the weekend.  I think if any of them weren't able to make it that there would be absolutely no way that I could have run things so smoothly.  So special thanks to Adrian Sr, Travis, Jessica, and Stan for the help at tournament central.  Thanks to Tom and Scott K. with the unloading Sunday morning and again Tom for adjusting 19's flags in the soup.  Continued thanks to Frank Grimes, where we raised $122 from the 50/50 CTP over the weekend, for all of his time, money, and effort put into the improvements of this course!  Sunday players didn't get to see it until sometime late in the 2nd round, but Frank had 10M circles painted out there for me along with mulching and all sorts of other good stuff.  It makes me wish I could have gone out there to play.  Thanks to Rob for bring in the temp baskets on Sunday!
