I was surprised that I did not find a thread for Homie. Of course, I could be blind and/or senile and have missed it.

Does anybody know what courses and which tees Rec. and/or Novice will play?  I hope to get to Lemon Lake Saturday if there is not a monsoon and want to preview the courses I am expected to play. Of course, regardless of the responses to this query, I will pay attention at the players meeting in case the information is inaccurate.  ;)  I will likely give away enough strokes on my own and will not want to give away any more by playing the wrong tee. :-\

Also, I have not been to Lemon Lake in over a year.  Will I need a sherpa to find the newer courses? I am really only framiliar with the original course and a little bit of the second one.

This will be the first year I go play the Homie. I've heard many great things about different aspects of the tourney. I've only played a couple of the holes there and have not seen much of the courses in the woods. Is it cart friendly or should I not even bother?

My recoillection is that most of the original course is very cart friendly. There are two holes that I recall on the lake side of the road that are up and down and hardere for a cart. However, I do not think they are impossible. A local can give you a better perspective. This is a great event and you should have a good time.  See you there.

The courses I've played out there have been fine for carts.

Taylor will now tell us about course assignments:

The first tee for white is about 100 feet from tournament central and the basket for 18 is about 40 feet away.   So no, shouldn't need a sherpa.  It would be entertaining and memorable though if you do decide to bring one along.  Sherpas would probably make great caddies.

Spuds and I have played this a few times and can definitely point you in the right direction.

Red is basically the original course with a couple added so no problems there.

Red is very cart friendly. White has holes that are not cart friendly.  Short up and down holes 4-7 are not good for a cart.    They put in stepping stones to make traversing a bit easier.   I dueced 2 of these and hit a third on a second shot just to see if I could get it.  Otherwise, it should be ok. Considering all the rain we had the course was in excellent shape today. I thought the White Course was supposed to be more challenging than the Red but found I  it much easier than the red.  It might be that I just played lousier on the red.  Not sure.

White is the beginner course of the 4 out there.  There are no long holes and every hole could be deuced by even average players.  White is a good course for me because I can shoot under par and feel like I accomplished something, which isn't saying much for my skills.  Red is much more challenging.

Saw that too.  Only 3 points over but that's why they have the ratings.

I forgot to mention this about my visit Saturday. There was construction on 133rd St blocking the drive to Lemon Lake. I was rerouted back north to 109th St. and then went east to Cline and back south towards 133rd as Cline runs into Cedar Lake. The detour was reasonably well marked.  I do not know if this will be the case this coming Sunday.  I am going to turn off Rte. 41 on 109th rather than going all the way to 133rd.

Did you take 65 down or suburbia drive?

I took 80/94, the Bishop Ford. I got off at exit 2 which is Independance or Rte. 41. Farther south the same road is called Wicker. Its a basic suburban highway most of the way south.  Normally I take that all the wasy to 133rd St.  Unless somebody can tell us the construction and detour has been removed I say take it to 109th as mentioned above.
