All the longs have crushed stone on them, except for hole 8 where I believe Aaron is planning on using the old long tee location (about 40 ft east of the stone long tee). Hole 12 will also be using a different long tee location as the required brush clearing for long 12 has not yet been done by the park district.

It is actually hole #14 that needs the clearing not #12. We will be using the concrete tee on that one for all rounds.

just make sure you buy golf cleats,  or if you have football cleats you cut them down,  or you can and will tear your ACL, and lat min.

OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT!!!

After hearing the weather report for the week, getting out to the course and seeing the conditions and knowinf how much the warmer weather will effect the course the format for the tournament will be as follows:

1st round everyone will play longs
2nd round everyone will play shorts.

The crushed limestone tees for the longs are below grade for the most part and with the thaw coming will be extremely sloppy, if not under water. Hopefully, by playing from the first round we can finish before the sun heats up the course too much. I believe that 2 rounds from those tees will do more damage than good when the PD has been nice enough to get those tees in before the freeze last winter. If you would like to see those limestone tees become concrete, there is a $5 50/50 CTP to help raise funds to make this happen!

how are the tees,  i was planning on playing 2 rounds tomorrow and was wondering how muddy it is out there.  and  if the tees where flooded

stpitner

the shorts are fine (concrete) - I guess the longs (limestone right now) are pretty sloppy - only time will tell I guess.

Who ever said that there is no reason to join a disc golf club? Thanks to Discontinuum, The First Rites of Spring will have 6 rubber fly pads to help alleviate the effects of the spring thaw.
The holes that will be affected will be hole 1, 3, 4, 15, 16, and 17/18.
These will have the fly pads installed with the teepad for 17 and 18 becoming 1 tee pad for both holes.
This should help to make the tee areas not only much more playable, but safe as well.

Thanks again Discontinuum for once again helping to promote the sport!!!

So since so many things have changed about the layout, format and whatnot, here are a few more things to be aware of for this weekend:

OB

hole 1)  on/ over the tracks
hole 2) on/ over the tracks
hole 3) over the fence
hole 4) over the fence, where the fence ends, the curb is ob line (there are flags from fence line to curb denoting OB line)
hole 16) on/ over path
temp hole A (if needed) on over path to the right

MANDOS
hole 6) must throw to the right of the tree with the yellow ribbon (drop zone to the right of the tree marked by flags)
hole 17) must throw to the right of the tree (drop zone to the right of the tree marked by flags)

Hole 6 mando was added due to tree trimming creating a path that goes in a direct line with long tee for hole seven (safety issue)

just shot the course to day,  tom me and one other cleared all the snow and water off most of the tees,    holes 1,3,4 should not need the rubber tee pads,   and with the thaw do you,  think it would be a good idea to use them rubber tees.  with as wet and muddy as it is, they might be slippery, more so then the limestone,   i had no problem at all with the tees as they are now.

Fox Metro Discer

Thank you, that is good to know. I will have the fly pads as a back up anyways even if they are not needed. It would be nice to be able to keep 17 and 18's tees seperate as well.

Hopefully the sun and wind will help to dry out the course a bit more before Saturday as well.
