Brett shot the hot round on the day 2 layout - shooting it even...

-Brett Comincioli  (21 holes...  par 67... rated round 1005) - THAT's a 1000+ rated round on a course that was set up at 8,600+ feet.

Nice shooting Brett!!!

I don't think that the course as we played it is a par 67. We played 21 holes and there are at least 2 par 5s and at least 5 par 4s, maybe even 7 par 4s.  I think if there had been some higher rated players on the course that the ratings would be higher for the same scores.  That is one tough layout.

Hole #4 with the basket on the other side of the pond is outstanding.  great course layout. There is one small pond in the park and there are two holes in which you have to throw over water.

I was definitely surprised about the ratings as well myself actually. Talking with Brett on the way back and looking at the bigger picture, I put his round at 1020-1030. We counted it up and pretty much best case scenario was around a 54 I believe.

Adjusted the course par to 69 after talking to a few people...

I've played with the pdga admin...  no matter what I put the par at 67, 69 or 74... it kicks the rating back as 1005...  it doesn't change.

The rating and the par are two separate issues. the scores are the scores no matter the par. I just think if you are going to compare a score to par then somewhere around 74 is the correct number.

Par will not affect ratings. The number of holes may as it shifts the average hole score which can change how steep the line is drawn (i.e. rating points per throw).

It is a good conversation though...  the goal was to make the hardest course available with the land that is there without making it long for the sake of being long...  18 would have been a lot more interesting if it wasn't raining and somebody could have dropped down a roller or two...

tacimala

With the pin positions and distance on 11 and 18, I would almost up those both a stroke although realistically they are probably a 4.5 and 5.5 "par".

How many 2's were recorded on hole 3?  I liked the hole, fwiw.

No way 18 is more than a par 5, Taylor.

tacimala

Yea I'm hearing you, but it's one of those in between holes. I threw three good drives (yes I know, hard to believe after my drivers first round with you) and it left me in just enough range to jump putt from about 90 feet. This puts the hole at around 1,200 feet and not enough to make it a par 6, but it's definitely a par 5.
