I am going to take the test and become a TD.

I want to run a low entry event for fun and points in December somewhere in Lake County. Probably Warren park in Gurnee cause it has nice cement tee pads.

This event would have a very low entry fee, no player packs, no payouts (for ams) payouts for pros. Just trophies and lots of CTP's. There will be two divisions, Open and Advanced. It will be very similar to the club challenge.

Who would be interested in playing?

KenGmoney1

I am thinking $5 entry fee for ams and need some feedback from the open players for their entry fee cause they will have a payout.

id be down as long as the snow isnt deep. also it would be nice if it were somewhere central-west lake county .

philvb85

I would definitely play this.

Good call Kenny. I was thinking of doing something similar this winter or really early spring.

Make sure you don't lose money with that $5 entry. With a $50 sanctioning fee and $2 per player pdga fee you need 17 players to break even. That's if you have no other expenses.

I would be interested.  Somewhere with cement pads would be best for December golf.

Hey, there's nothing wrong with losing money on a disc golf tournament.   ::)  Just don't lose more than you intended, or more than you disclosed to the wife in advance if you are married.   ;D

What is that supposed to mean? What do you think the PDGA is going to do if a certified offical wants to run an event?

I believe it was a joke [not my joke] by someone pretending to be Chris Vandagriff who is third or fourth in PDGA points behind Kenny and among Dave Nelson and Matt Travis.  Given the obscurity of the reference, the jokester would likely be one of the above or Tom McManus.  But it could be anybody who is following the obelisk race.  But how many people is that? Six?

If it was Vandagriff himself, the PDGA has no issue with the concept.  They are fine with low entry fee tournaments and they are fine with points bonanza style tournaments.  There used to be a Points Bonanza series somewhere on the East Coast.

What the hell Bruce. Have you ever known me to joke around about anything? Jesus.

I will bet it was the overhand ass. 2nd place points...

and Dana, this is just for social/fun/points going to be a c-tier so I will have $0.00 added cash for open. Maybe Vibram can toss in $1,000 for the pros... and a pair of shoes for player packs for all the ams.

This event is really for the ams but the pros are welcome

I  think there will be 17 people would show up, or I can find a few sponsors to make it happen.

But if i do not have 15 people post that they would be interested I will not waste my time and will just go to MI to play a tournament.

Cement tees and not too much snow? I'm in (happy to spread the ratings pool....)
thanks,

Could I possibly play any worse if I didn't practice putting??

I was just kiddding about the grand added cash.  I'd probably be interested in playing though..

Great Idea Kenny! I will play also.

Bruce Brakel

If you sanction it, I will play it.  If you cannot get the TD test graded quickly enough, you might be able to borrow another TD's status.

If you sanction it and I don't play it, because maybe I have a conflict on the date you pick, or maybe I've had my feet amputated, I'll preregister and you'll still have my $5.
