Is it likely we will get matched against someone with the same relative skill level?

Is it likely we will get matched against someone with the same relative skill level?

Look at the original post and it explains the format.

Bruce Brakel

Using that format, it is likely you'd be playing someone about your skill level.  But if the teams are not evenly matched, a smart captain might throw away one or two matches in order to get better match ups in the remaining matches.  In the u-pick/i-pick format, there's a lot of game to be played just in picking the match opponents.

Given the ratings distributions of both teams I would expect not to play but if Discontinuum were forced to play me it may be advantageous to match me with Fox Valley's highest rated player. I would not likely have much better of a chance against an 880 player as I would against a 950 player.  Its still only one match.I frequently play against an 880 player and you would think that statistically I would win once in a while.. It has not happened yet.

Bruce Brakel

That's certainly one scenario where you throw a match: if your worst player is going to lose to anyone on their team, he might as well lose to their best.  Similarly, if they have Nikko on their team, who will probably beat your best player, why waste your best player?

This would be a fun game to play with 20-sided dice and fantasy teams.

Sorry this is such late notice, is there anyone that is willing to give me a ride home after the challenge?  I had a ride lined up that fell through.  I live in Arlington Heights about 5 minutes away from Willow Stream DGC in Buffalo Grove.  I have a ride to Oswego but have not found one home yet.  Thanks in advance.

Don't know if it's in the plans or not, but may I suggest we do a CTP and Ace Fund for the day?
Since there are so few people, I'd think the Ace Fund should be at least $2 with a CTP throw-off if not won.
Since the concrete is paid for, we could do a 100% payout CTP or keep it 50/50 for the club and/or Hesed House.  I think $4 per round would work so that the total for entering all is a nice even $10.  I just think it's always fun to walk with a little more money than what you came with, especially with a lucky shot!
I should be there about 8:15 or so if I need to run this.  I sorta like #7 for the first round CTP, reachable by all, but not nescesarily easy.
Any yea's or nay's?

All four players put their drives on the green. Doug Buettgen canned the putt for Discontinuum and the win on hole 1 of the playoff.

Congratulations to Discontinuum for the victory! That's 2 years in a row where the winner was detemined by playoff.

I hope everyone enjoyed the day as well as the dogs that Blaine and Christie cooked up for everyone.

Some highlights for the day:
Kyle aced the last hole of the round in singles (#15) to seal the eal agains Brett.
Jr and George had a wicked tree kick from the schule on hole 13 to deuce the hole during the doubles round.

Thanks for the post Aaron. Add one more highlight to the day. Aaron shot a blistering 43 the first round.  This was a very fun event.  The sudden death playoff round was very exciting, it was fun because everyone watching had a stake in the results.  Todd made a very solid drive and Doug hit a big putt to take the win.

Thanks to all the Discontinuum members who made the hike to Oswego. It is not a short drive.  It wasn't for a trophy  or for plastic, while it was for cash, it certainly wasn't much as each player on the winning team got $5.00. It was to go out and represent the club, represent disc golf and go out and have a great time.

Thanks to Fox Valley, especially Tyler for getting this event together. Thank you to Blaine and Christie for the dogs and pop.
