I thought we talked about this, but I can't find the thread.....

Anyhooo, Adrian made 9 trash cans. Very nice indeed; sturdy steel with a secured block to mount with 2 heavy duty screws flush to the front of the tee markers at Bevier. He bought a ton of bags as well! They will all have our name (courtesy of Bill's bumper stickers) on them. I told Mike and Scott (WPD Maintenance Manager) about them, who seemed mildly interested in allowing us to do install the trash cans. I showed one to Mike Trigg today, and although he liked the design, said that they stand a high chance of being vandalized, which would mean that the teeposts would be vandalized. I disagreed with him and offered year-round maintenance of the trash cans and that we would be totally responsible for their upkeep. He wants some time to talk to other WPD people and will get back to us. He kept the can to show others. Keep your fingers crossed!  We will be providing a good community service, so I hope he takes us up on the offer. Adrian put in some time and money on these and they are high-quality! Thanks, Adrian!

I don't see the difference in risk of vandalization between Adrian's trash cans and the WPD trash cans. Some of their trash cans are chained to small trees. In a good gust of wind (the kind that us crazies go out and throw in) those cans could easily tip over, not to mention taking the bark off of a sapling. I disagree with their concern, however, if this does get shot down, perhaps they would let us install a seperate post simply for mounting the trash can. I feel that they are important and am willing to do the improvements myself if need be.

Any news from WPD on the trash can decision yet?
