A 9-holer has mysteriously appeared here in the last couple of weeks. Concrete tee pads, 9 DiscCatchers.

The course is... well, the course is weird, and it's not going to be long before either a jogger/biker gets nailed along the very busy jogging/biking path there - in play on nearly every hole - or an automobile driver careens off McCormick Blvd avoiding an errant throw (one of which I already floated into the street trying a safari hole in the wind - I missed a car but saved the disc.)

Course is not marked and baskets are not numbered. Holes range from 90' (seriously - a little blind shot with a walking path right next to it which I guess you could call OB) to maybe 320 for one of them. I couldn't throw a blind 220 hole because a homeless guy was camped out by the basket.

There are a couple of decent holes, but waiting to avoid any possibility of hitting a biker/jogger was frustrating (and it's not their fault, after all.) I did talk to a couple of folks curious about the whole thing though, so that's good.

It's a welcome concept to have any kind of course less than a mile from my house, but I'm not sure I'll go back there again. Maybe in colder weather when it's not as busy.

Anybody know anything about this?? It's frustrating to know that a few $1000 was dumped into this and it's going to be pulled soon because somebody's gonna get hurt.

It's all in Lincolnwood. It maybe call Channel Runne Park. Like you said it just  appeared last Wed. wife drove by
saw Baskets, it wasn't there Tues. More worry about someone hitting a car  it would be nasty four lanes on
McCormick Blvd.  Don't know who put it  in or anything else one day no basket next day baskets.We can practice are putting
after work?

Its a Village of Lincolnwood project. They got a grant for a largeer project and the disc golf course is a small part of it. If you do a search for "village of Lincolnwood disc golf" you will find the budget, some park board minutes and a village newsletter descriving a greater proect that includes a disc golf course. They hired an outside firm which kind of amazes me. How did they fail to see the danger in putting a course here.  I am thrilled to have a course this close to home but disappointed that nobody who plays disc golf was consulted from what I can see. . The safari 9 I played was more interesting thatn the course.  The course goes one way south.  You either walk a half mile to go back to the beginnning or play a safari 9 to return. Bikers and  joggers are in play on most holes.  The concretes are tremendous.  There is plenty of room. The baskets, as mentioned, are DiscCatchers.  In the Winter, when the paths are not used very much, this will be a nice place to play as long as the concretes are salted and cleared.  I will have my shovel in my car.  In the  Summer it will be nice to have a place to play after work. In realiity, the course may get pulled after the first couple of "incidents".  I played there about three hours after Damon and the same homeless guy was sleeping right in front of basket #9.  There is a new parking lot being built.  Its not yet open so I parked in the Dominick's lot across the street.

What is the closest cross street to this mysterious new course? I live in North Park and to have a basket within walking distance would be sweet! Even if it is just to practice.

Its just north of Pratt and plays south to just north of Devon. The park is on the east side of McCormick.

McCormcik Blvd. & Northeast Parkway  Which is the road between Dominicks & Grossinger car dealer.
Park in Dominicks corner  of lot cross the street  first T to the right of light. play south to Devon.

Here are a couple of pics from #5, the tunnel hole.  It was a fun little course...as Dave said, the safari course on the way back were more fun that the 9 current holes.  I wonder if we played any of the same safari holes???   

I will add it to DGCR & PDGA unless someone else wants to do it.  As far as I know...Damon, John, and Dave found it before me.  I would not want to steal anyone's thunder.

I'll add some rough distances, a few more photos and a review to DGCR.

It was a lot better Sunday evening with less bike/foot traffic.

The safari holes I played were mostly teeing from one basket and throwing to the previous one (9 to 8, 8 to 7, etc). They're a lot more interesting and it's the only entertaining way to get back to the parking lot anyhow.

Hopefully the family I saw recklessly throwing discs with people in range were gone and did not cause any problems.  One of the kids threw a drive on #3 that was less than 10' from a walker on the path.

Yeah, that was I. Your photos on DGCR are better than mine so I just added the estimated hole lengths and a review.

Steven & I played Lincolnwood this afternoon.

Licolnshire had 3 baskets at Old Mill Park. It's located just West of 94 on 22 half day road. Half mile or so on Old Mill Rd.

I practice at Old Mill every day at lunch!! It's always empty, glad it's so close to my work.  Btw,  did you or Steven forget a Red Aviar?  I found one there today at lunch in the middle of the field, no name.

I labeled the holes with a label maker. I think this course could have been better planned.  All the holes were super easy, where is the level of dificulty!  Chicago needs more disc golf parks.
