Michigan State Finals

90 Advanced Men played in the Michigan State Finals over the weekend. Umm...wait, no. 89 MEN played. One woman kicked most of their back sides! Kelsey finished in 8th place with unofficial rated rounds of 995, 968, and 966. This has to be some of the best tournament rounds of any amateur woman in the sport ever. Considering that many pro women never shoot rounds like that I can't imagine that many amateur women ever have.

It doesn't seem that long ago that Kelsey was keeping track of the adult men that she had beat in tournament play. I guess it's not too surprising that a girl who once relished every win against adult men is now a formidable Advanced Men competitor.

There was a day when she beat me as well. The crab never tasted as sweet as the day that I took Kelsey to Bob Chinn's to celebrate the tournament that she bested me at. Now I'm not good enough to carry her towel...but that says more about me than her. She'd probably let me carry her towel any day...as long as I'm buying the crab!

That is awesome! I got to see her play at Worlds and I was very impressed. She should come down to the LIS finale in Peoria, IL to take care of the men there!

Did Advanced play the same courses as Open Women?  Kelsey's total was 13 strokes better than Catrina Allen, the winner of Women's Open. The last I looked, she was the 11th highest rated woman in the world.  That is likely to change if these rating hold up.  Of course it looks like she is more interested in beating up boys and she has been pretty successful in that regard.
