Saturday: The temperature was a cool 48 degrees to start and it climbed to a high of around 58 degrees. It had rained pretty hard over night and earlier in the morning making it a little messy. The biggest factory was the wind. The winds were steady in the high teens all day and the gust were close to 30mph. It was an extremely tough day for disc golf.

Sunday: The temperature was a cool 48 degrees to start and it climbed to a high of around 60 degrees with clear skies all day. It was fairly calm until around 11:30 when the wind started to pick up to around 10mph with gusts in the teens. It was a much nicer day for disc golf.

any thought to reconsidering the rope on hole #2 by the creek? That hole cost me the tournament and an extra $98.00. first round 2nd shot was across the rope by a foot but dry(OB 5), and second round drive slid 4 inches past rope (OB 4)  >:(  That was my only bogey that 2nd round. Par would have won the event by 1 stroke.
No big deal if this is the way that hole will be played in future tournaments, as I will be back. May just have to start throwing something stable off the tee for placement. Never could have imagined after trailing by 5 I would have tied for the lead playing the short tees with that field of Masters?
Other than that, great tournament Jesse!

First round the rope was not OB.

on hole #2?  I know it wasn't OB on #6 round #1, but Pastore and Fritz both said it was OB round #1.

sorry. Hole 6 only the second round.

roman

Yeah, rope was OB both rounds. Only hole 6 was exempt first round. Doug, you shouldn't throw there anyway. I like the OB rope on 2. Keeps people from trying to get "greasy". Makes you think twice before going for the lucky shot.

pdga#7648

2nd round I tried laying up on this side of creek, landed flat and slid. like I said, never imagined taking a 3 there would have won the tournament?? I still had to play thru hole #6

I think rope/painted lines around creeks like the one there are a good idea anywhere as it essentially eliminates the guesswork of being surrounded by water. I thought the roped-off areas were a lttle 'wide', but everybody had to play them.

I went OB twice on #2 from the longs. If I hadn't done that, gone OB on #1 and butchered about 5 other holes, I might have won.  ::)

I had a good time playing bad golf on a beautiful day with fun people. Thanks Jesse and the whole J-town crew.
thanks,
Damon

Could I possibly play any worse if I didn't practice putting??

roman

#18
My upshot on #2 got denied and went barely OB as well costing me 2 strokes. I only lost by 2. I'm not blaming anything on the ropes. It was all me.

Happened to me at Mokena too. I lost by 1 stroke and had a nasty triple skip on one hole that barely went OB. Stuff like this happens.

Your landing flat story reminded me of Sinnissippi this year as well. The round when the pin on hole 3 was up against the creek on the right I threw a great drive to within 40 of the basket. Didn't want to run that putt with water so close behind. Decided to lay up - threw my putter short of the basket and flat. The thing somehow got legs and scooted across the GRASS and plopped into the creek behind the basket. Live and learn.

Take notes, read the landing zone better next time, throw a better shot. Win :)

Thanks Jesse and crew! I always love this tournament. It was the first tournament I played after moving to Chicago from Michigan back in 2006 and I've only missed it once since!
