"Why the change?
The courses at Elver Park and Hiestand Park are showing the wear and tear of increased usage. In order to improve the quality of the courses and the amenities such as benches, tee boxes, turf maintenance, a 'pay to play' permit will be required. The fees collected from the disc golf permits will be used exclusively on disc golf course maintenance and improvements."

Kinda sucky but with growth comes change. They have to do something to make sure the parks are maintained and enjoyable for everyone in the future. $40 for a 1 yr pass is not SO bad compared to Lemon Lake. But Lemon lake is badass, I have not played these Madison courses.  Hopefully the money is well spent.

I love the Madison courses and I think it's a great move. They get way too much play and need some serious errosion control.

It's a solid move especially if they truly put that money back into the course.  Both Elver and Hiestand have potential to be 4+ courses.  They just get trampled  through and need those lovely touches.  Hiestand is always packed.  I wanted to let better players play through when I was up there with my bro and my pops but there was no point unless I was looking for someone disc since there were groups on every hole at 10am.

With Vallarta, which is already a P2P and Bird's Ruins in the area, not to mention Lustig in Janesville on the way and the brewpub options, Madison always makes for a great day trip.

I have heard nothing but good things about the courses around Madison and was looking to roadtrip it up there for a weekend of Disc Golf this summer.

I wonder if I will have to pay $40 to play those courses or if they will have a daily fee option like Lemon Lake ($4)?
