Nice! Was that the same one in the picture at Hole 4 yesterday?

Have you tried to dye a Super Roc? I don't throw them, but just thought to ask

drdye

Not not the same disc, the one on the sign is a Champ Viking that I sold a couple weeks ago.

Havent dyed the super Rocs yet, but I am certain they dye well.  The only downfall is that they are a SE type plastic, so it will probably soak into the plastic quickly, not positive on that though.

mirth

Dude, you've totally dyed a super roc already! You even sold it on ebay.
Don't forget your towel!

drdye

I think he is refering to the new super Rocs, not the older ones released a couple years back.

D

The Docta is correct.

I'm too new-school to know about the old super rocs  <_<

Diron,

Ive dyed the new Super Roc. So far, so good. Colors have stayed pretty vibrant. I don't think the dye sat for even for a day. If I remember, I'll take a picture and post it.

That old SE Roc I sold on ebay just soaked into the plastic so much!!!  I wish I knew it was going to do that, then I would have made the two designs go togather better.

On another note....  Someone from CHING(the owner I think) contacted me recently and sent me a couple of the proto Mojo Excelerator for some test dyes.  They are pretty interesting, I get to keep them, so I am going to go throw them and let you guys know how they fly.  They are not PDGA approved yet, in fact the 2 I got are part of the batch they sent for their PDGA approval.  They are putters, and they also will be coming out with a driver similar to this.  Here is a picture of one of the ones I got.

I am going to try and get out today and give em a throw.  I have one dyeing now, I am going to let it set longer than I normally would because I am uncertain how the dye will take.  I will post some pics if they turn out well.

drdye

Oh, the Patent Pending Excelerator countoured flight deck offers a high speed diminishing spoiler resistance for a smoother burn as launch energies transition to flight and glide.  The large flat vertical rim face creates an incredibly predictable controlled glide and more surface impact friction to stick in the chains.  This is a pic of the edge.

All this info comes from a CHING letter inclosed with the discs.  He goes on to say that the dimples on the disc are places to put your thumb.  Some are closer to the edge and some are farther away, with one blank spot, I guess for those who dont like the dimple idea.  Holding it in different spots gives you different hyzer/anhyzer angles.  Well, I guess I am going to go try it.  Wait I hear thunder <_< ...mabye in a little while.

D

The dimples should create a similar effect as the Innova Thumbtrack while spinning.

I've read about this disc on the pdga forums and think it's a bit much. It makes me wonder if one day we'll be throwing metallic discs with rocket launchers or some BS  <_< How far does it have to go untill one considers it too be a "new game" ?

But I do think it's cool that comapnies are experimenting, sorta.. any w3rd on the flight Doc?  8)

drdye

I didnt get a chance to throw it yesterday, maybe today if the rain holds off.

I will post after I throw it and get a feel for it.

Well, Trisha and I went out to Parkside to test fly the Mojo today, since its pin configuration is really a chip and putt course anyway.  Nice disc, I have to say.  It feels a little funny in the hand at first, but I started feeling myself getting used to it.  It holds just about any line I gave it and I threw it alot.  Putts drives approach, its a pretty good disc.  I ended up shooting a -12, playing Midwest.  Not to bad.  I only missed about 2 birdie putts with the Mojo, other than that I was sinking everything!!!  Maybe I was getting some "Mojo" off the Proto Mojo....the Proto Mojo "Mojo".  Hehe

So what do you guys think of me using it during leagues....since its not approved, would anyone have any objections to me throwing it???

D

TRIPLE-DOUBLE DQ THE DOCTOR FOR EVEN THINKING ABOUT USING IT AT LEAGUES!!!!

The serious answer...I think we should continue to follow PDGA rules for league play.

It would open a can of worms that I'd rather leave closed. I'd consider letting you use it for the Roc vs. Buzzz challenge on Sunday at 10am. It looks in the picture like it'd qualify as a blunt edged weapon.
