Have you read this thread about the 3 guys suspended by the PDGA?

What do you think? I think since they are Pros, that the suspension is moderate. If I were on the disciplinary committee I think I would be inclined to suspend a pro for cheating for at least 6 months. I think their 2 month suspension would be more in keeping with an amateur penalty.

Back when everyome was *outraged* by the *severity* of the penalty I posted on the thread that it seemed a little light to me.  Now more members are starting to agree with me.

For those of you not following the thread, a card of pros missed a letter hole.  It was on the scorecard in the right place, on the map, in the players guide and mentioned at the players meeting.  They weren't paying attention.  When they discovered that their card was missing a hole they added an all-par hole because they knew where they were relative to par.

They claim that they were unaware of the misplay until the next round when they played that hole for the first time.  They got together after the round and agreed that none of them would say anything about it.  If they had said anything about it at that point they would get a five for the hole plus a 2-stroke penalty for turning in an incorrect card, four penalty stroes each.

The one who took last cash could not maintain the conspiracy.  Three days after the tournament he confessed to the TD.  The TD disqualified all of them and referred the matter to the competition director pursuant to 804.05.

The PDGA finally decided five weeks later that they all should get a two-month suspension followed by one year of probation.

In golf they'd be kicked off the tour for wilful cheating like that.

I think they got off big time. They will miss events until mid May. They have all summer to play. They got lucky for cheating.
