Sunday, May 2, 2004 at 1:00 PM will be the Grand Opening for "The Oaks" Disc Golf course in Mokena, IL.  Come out and see/play the course.  We will be having a few speakers and present the volunteers who helped build the course with
t-shirts.

Custom Innova hot-stamped discs will be avaiable for purchase that day as well as DX and Champion discs.  Also, Gary Lewis will be helping us with putting contests.  Lastly, we will be selling raffle tickets for a chance to win some gift certificates to Disc 'N ' Dat and a portable DISCatcher.

The Park is located at 10925 LaPorte Road, Mokena, IL.  Please park in our Main lot and the temporary entrance will be marked.

Hey, Laura! Thanks for the info. I wish I could be there but I'm working Saturday overnights and I'll be sleeping during the ceremony.

I can't wait to play!

Cool to see the grand opening.  Not sure if i will be able to make it.  Are the signs up on the holes yet? When and where is the new parking lot going to be constructed?  Where are the discs sold at in the park?  Thanks Laura M.

The signs should be completed by this Friday.  We are having them custom made by a signs place in town.  Hopefully the rain holds off on Saturday because that is when the signs are suppossed to be installed.  Unfortunately the parking lot is another issue.  It will probably not be installed for some time, our Board of Commissioners are discussing possible options for the lot.  We have discs available at our Park Office (the little building located on the corner of LaPorte when you turn into the Main lot).

well i just played this course for the first time this weekend and I think it might be the most enjoyable course ive ever played.  unbelievable layout.  my only gripe is the location of hole #1...  it seems to make much more sense to just start at #22 and play around, ending at #21.  Shot an 83, not too bad for the first time on the course.

on a side note, i can finally almost split the uprights on a football field from the opposite end zone...  if there wasnt a cross wind on saturday i think it would have gone in- we were messing around out on the field right next to the course, its really a great park overall

I've heard there is going to be a parking lot constructed near hole #1 & the practice baskets. I think that is why hole #1 was placed over there.

that would definitely make sense, since you have to walk so far to get to the course to begin with
