What is the preffered method to use when a DiscCatcher ie Basket is not available?
I understand that a course without any Baskets could be less desirable to play.  In the example  of a temporary course what would the proper "Holeing Out" method be ? Any info appreciated.

It depends on what you have available. In the early 1970's when Bruce and I were playing a frisbee object game much like our disc golf of today, we used trees, stop signs, utility poles, etc. If it was something that would clang, we would count the clang (much like the tone poles if you've seen them). Otherwise the shot would only count if there was a noticeable change of direction when the frisbee hit the object.

I don't recommend using trees as the target, because the modern golf disc can do quite a bit of damage to them. Same goes for trash cans and the like.

As far as doing something official, like a pdga tournament, I think you'd need a competition waiver to do an object course. These are the current PDGA approved targets.

Are you thinking of something specific? I think it'd be cool to setup an object course at one of the forest preserves. A wagon with a skill shot in it would work also. Guy who shoots last has to go put up the skill shot.

A long wood lath with a ribbon on the top would make a useable object. Have to hit the stake to hole out.

And the answer is Yes I have something that is close to happening. Im fairly positive that whoever becomes involved will find it a unique experience.
