kid has played twice with me now
i have here throwing a 171 cyclone
shes lefty

what type of discs are the juniors throwing

something lighter perhaps

stable or unstable

i m still old school plastic
not a lot of new stuff in my bag

ive set par at 6 for her

she didnt get any 7's in toledo last week
but got several 5's

she liked the idea that she got more birdies than i did

six to five

should i play lefty along with her

going to show her course i ve marked out
behind her school today

Well Bruce may be a better resource to answer this, but I will give my opinion. Generally a less stable disc will be easier to control for them, and the lighter the better. As they get stronger they can move to heavier and more stable discs.

Some suggestions would be a 150 Dragon, or and I know Im practically alone on this, but give Gateway a call.

The sabre or apache is a great driver to learn on and they are available super light, Give them a call I have seen there discs as light as 128 for just this reason.

played 10 holes with kid 2 day  (local course ive set up - skilshot)

shes getting about 80 ft on good drives

she s just throwing the one disc (cyclone  170 ish)   so far

i dont want to get into up-discs and putters yet

I would say get her a light dragon or a light sabre.

If I were able to do it over again, I would've done this. I think it will speed up the skill-progression of a new player

It's true flight will correct the flaws in ones throw, and although she may not be able to throw it 80ft, once she can get it to fly straight her drivers will go alot farther

Amazing, but true. Diron is wise beyond his years. I have taken this approach with my daughter. She is now just throwing a Buzzz until she masters it.

I made Diana throw Comets only for a year until she learned to throw them.  Same concept.  Once she went back to throwing all sorts of stuff, she added 60 or 70 points to her rating.  

For Maddisen, I might recommend a Breeze rather than a Buzzz.  I will have some Z-Breezes at IOS #3.  Kelsey is throwing a Breeze for upshots and they finish very straight.

I'm back to mastering my stingray....I started with it and now I'm back to it because I've "forgotten" how to throw straight. I've been using different discs and making my throw affect the disc flight but learning to throw a straight disc straight is a better skill to have.
