We started discussing 2005 Bag Tags tonight. We are going to order some awesome bag tags this year. You will only be able to get a bag tag with a $15.00 membership. Part of the membership will pay for the bag tag and the rest is a donation to the club. With that membership you get access to the club members only section on the message board and discounts off club stock. That money also supports the club in efforts to run events and purchase misc items.

Here is the big question. The discussion has been, should there be prizes awarded to top bag tag holders or not. What is your opinion?

Because it is so difficult to regulate the fairness in bag tag challenges (especially if someone outside of our regular playing area wins a low tag), I think we should no longer offer prizes starting in 2005.

Instead I think we should run a bag tag finals in late October or early November. Bagtag holders only event that would be the final chance for challenges for 2005. At that time, if the club financials dictate, we could have a few prizes at the event...maybe provide tube steaks for a cook out or something like that. This way we aren't locked into giving a set amount but can change according to our financial situation at the end of the year.

This would also be a great event to kick-off a membership drive for the next year.

Your onto something here Jon, maybe a club championship event.  GLDGC has one every fall.
Let us hope that the whores of evil no longer loiter on the doorsteps of your path beckoning you into the brothel of despair, and that here and after may present them with the most rigid manistfestation of a firm and manly will.

I really like this idea, also.

I vote: YEAH!

My jedi-sense is saying that if this is a club member bag tag holder only affair, a tube steak sponsor will appear.   B)

At least one sponsor... Perhaps a grilled rib sponsor will come out of the woodwork as well.

Does that come out of charitable donations?

I think this is a fun idea personally.  I don't play for bag tags with the idea that I am striving to get prizes at the end.  However, I will predict that there will be a few people (hopefully very few) that won't want to play a game in which no prize is awarded.  If anything, this might make the bag tag challenge more fun.  I know some people aren't really excited about playing for tags unless they are shooting for one of the top 3 that include a prize.  With the new format, people will be forced to think of it as merely a fun challenge where you simply want to get the lowest tag possible, which is what the original intent of a bag tag challenge is.
