Illinois Top Courses

I've played 39 of the 67 courses in IL. There are several good courses i've yet to play. Here are my top courses.

1. Morton
2. Pekin
3. Rockford-New
4. Sterling
5. Mokena
6. Rockford-Original
7. Bradley

I'd list Rockford as the #1 facility since it has 2 good courses in one location.

maybe a bit partial, but....

1. rockford's old course - maybe the best manicured park i've played, big developed tress,  great shots.
2. sterling - excellent layout, cool club members, water hazards, rod 'ripper' fritz's home course
3. camden - more of a fun course from the shorts, but the longs will kick yo' ass
4. rockford's new course - still trying to break a two down, keeps me on my toes everytime
5. pekin - i haven't played it yet, but everyone raves about it...

Have you made it further north than Madison? Stevens Point has some good courses, and Sandy Point is sublime.

Having played some of the courses Jon has not, I'd start with Jon's list and amend it as follows, substituting for the courses I've italicized:

Top 10 midwest courses: [all from longs]

4) Hudson Mills Original, Dexter, MI
5) Stoney Creek, Utica, MI I'm thinking the redesigned Rolling Hills beats this now.  And Midland too.  
6) Earl Brewer, Grand Rapids, MI Robert Morris, Kalamazoo, MI
7) Ludington Beast, Ludington, MI
8 ) Ludington Beauty, Ludington, MI Ludington Goliath
9) Cass Benton, Northville, MI
10) Grand Woods, Lansing, MI Depends upon the layout and time of year but I'd go with Fitzgerald, Grand Ledge, MI, if the basket is on the island.

I think we need to find room for Hickory Hills, Traverse City, and Boyne Mountain if it is still a permanent course.  Until you've been to Michigan, you have not played disc golf.  

If I had time to travel outside Michigan, McNaughton and Northwoods from the back tees are great.  Lemon Lake and Parkside are good courses too.

Sioux Passage Park in Florrissant (sad suburban St. Louis) has an awsome course.  Of course, I was a much different player then.  Any southern, Il or Mo. folks out there?

Ive played both pekin and morton.. but I forgot which is which...

which one is the one that has the first hole that is barried in the woods and drops like 100 feet?

I think you're talking about Pekin.

When I played Morton, I don't remember what hole I started on, thus don't recall what holes were which - but it was a bad ass course.

I did however get plenty of time to practice Pekin before Peoria Open, and the first hole drops big time, and is behind a large bush/tree that blocks your path to the basket, it is then slightly tucked around a patch of woods..

Tough hole, but once you get to the back 9 at Pekin you're wishing for the front.

I think in a span of two days I lost five discs at Pekin during practice, two of the five were actually returned to me.

one is swimming
one is in some dense woods
and one that i won during the tournament i forgot about on a hole

Ok I looked it up on pdga
Pekin is the one taht is really hilly, tough course

morton is the one that has the first hole that drops hardcore ( i only played like 5 holes there)

Next time i go down to ISU i plan on playing those again, definatly worth the trip

With regards to Rockford, the old course is far and ahead better.  The last four holes on the new course are lame.  It's the same shot four different times.  They should have put two of those baskets out by the 600+ foot hole. On running down the lane of trees and another coming back some how.  But I moved to Wisconsin voluntarily, so my judgment may be altered now.

Oh and towards the middle of the state, stay away from Urbana.  The course is boring and the kids from the housing around the place, run out and pick up your frisbees.  You are better off driving the 1 1/2 to Terre Haute, IN.
