Not to cause any trouble, but I have been researching what level to play in for the IOS and I thought at first I should play advanced so I was checking past scores and this years new scores and it seems to me that the club prez, brett, is a sandbagger.  A thing that isn't taken lightly in the disc golf community, it just seems to hold the sport back.  But like I said I'm not trying to cause trouble, I really have no idea, I am just making an observation.

yeah he sandbags

everyone is doing it

i actually play in the jr girls 13 and under division..

If you were talking about me, I'd just ignore you. But since you are talking about a friend of mine I thought I should say something.

1) There is no ratings cap to the Advanced division.
2) There are no other legitimate sports that I know of that currently force amateurs to turn pro. Disc golf used to do it in some areas...now it has grown up!
3) Since there really isn't a professional division in disc golf, just a semi-pro division, I have encouraged Brett to stay as an amateur until his rating is over 1000.
4) There are plenty of amateurs in disc golf and other sports that have stayed amateur in order to win certain tournaments. Tiger Woods won the golf amateur championship 3 times before he turned pro.

Could you explain more about this statement. How is my (Brett Comincioli) playing Advanced holding the sport back?

I have had a few people already ask me when i'll be playing Open so I figure i'll get this out here now.

Too bad Milwaukee Am Worlds aren't until 2007  .

I've set some lofty goals for this year. Hopefully October 12th thru 15th will be my first Pro Tournament. We'll see what happens. I'd have to play some awesome disc golf at 1 of 2 events to qualify.

The past year has been great for me. I exploded last year after baseball season ended when I was able to play disc golf every day. That is what it takes to play Open. I will not be coaching baseball next spring.  I have learned many things I can & cannot do. I have learned what I need to do to get better. This past weekend I shot 16 strokes better at Olympia Fields than last year. I was down 2 strokes going into the 2nd round. I battled and ended up losing by 1 stroke. Last year I choked at the end of a round when I knew I had a lead. I choked in a playoff as well. I have learned from these experiences & hopefully they will help me when I decide to turn Pro.

If there is anyone interested in talking & discussing what my plans are for the future, please feel free to contact me. Send me an e-mail or PM. If you'd like, leave a # & i'll call you.

The thing holding this sport back is some of the chuckers that play in the Open Division. How can someone respect a sport that anyone can pay their $ and play Pro.

One other thing that is funny. You are looking for a division to play. You have to research what division to play. You say you have no idea but yet say "A thing that isn't taken lightly in the disc golf community, it just seems to hold the sport back." That's interesting.

I officially resigned from coaching baseball today & took cash on Saturday so my Am days are over. We'll see what happens over the next year. Hopefully i'll keep improving and be able to hang with the big boys. If not i'll just run events & and play local leagues.
