I put all info on the inside rim of the disc - still havent gotten the only disc I have lost at Parkside.  Red Orc - Zac Cobus' name on the underside - then mine in the rim.

Some asshat who is probably a one discer kept it.

I too am beginning to doubt the honesty of people.

I've only lost 1 disc, at Lombard to the pond... but I don't miss it too much.  It was just a DX Leopard.  Stupid wind.  On the flipside, the group I go and throw with found a Champion Orc that someone lost at Oak Brook.  It had a name and number, so one of the guys called and it was returned about a half hour later.

I put my name and cell number in the ones that I'd like to at least get returned if found.  It's always appreciated when someone returns something to the rightful owner.

Andrew Gleason put his name and number on his Firebird.  He's getting it back.  It does not happen every time, but how many unmarked discs do you think you'll get back?  I always make the effort to return a lost disc, unless it is totally unmarked and generic.

If you throw a DX Leopard in the wind anywhere near the pond at Lombard, you have only yourself to blame.  ::)

I actually threw a Dragon, which promptly whacked a tree, so out of frustration I just chucked the Leopard side arm (I'm a lefty), and the wind just turned the disc sideways and it bounced, not rolled (picture a sail on a boat) right into the pond.  It was on hole 3.  The crazy thing was that I didn't even throw the disc in the direction of the pond at all.  The wind *easily* made it blow over 100 feet to land in the pond.  It was the weirdest thing I had ever seen.

Ah well, at least I wasn't the one that bought it new.  It only cost me $3 heh.

To stay a little bit on topic though, the only time I would say to not write your info on the bottom of your discs is when you *know* that you plan on selling your discs soon.  That's especially true if you don't even really plan on using the disc or only a couple of times before deciding you don't like it.

Dragon and Leopard- both real good discs for a new arm.  However, both are real lousy discs for the wind. Both are kinda understable and the Dragon is too light unless purely downwind.  I suspect the Dragon would have found the pond if it didn't find the tree. :icon_cry:

My rule on writing...if its in my bag its got a name and number.  Unmarked discs have not made it to my bag.

Surprising the Dragon hasn't come too close to the water (hole #3) and I'm throwing LHBH too.  On Tuesday I threw it again because it had been a while since I had thrown it, and it was probably the best drive that anyone from my group has done on that hole.  Then I go a blow a 15' birdie putt.  That wasn't fun.  At least I still had it in 3!  I'm still learning though.

Where does everyone write their info on the Champion discs?  I don't like being able to see through the clearer portion of the disc and seeing my writing.  That's especially true when it's a nicely dyed disc.

I write my info on the rim. I am color blind so many of my discs are the same color (blue and yellow), so I also write the type of disc on the rim.

I write my info (Name, PDGA# and Phone#) on the rim of the disc. If its see through, I have my dad write it backwards so you can see it normally face up, too.

as it happens, I threw a Dragon in that pond once; landed too far to retrieve, but by the end of the round the wind had blown it clear to the other side and I was able to get it. They really do float!

I plaster my disc with my name, PDGA #, home phone, cell phone, weight & anything else I can think of. If someone finds my disc I hope they call. If not I hope to hell it's a pain in the arse to mark my name out. The entire bottom of the disc will be blacked out. If not, they'll have to look at my name & info everytime they throw it. Either way it's very unique to what most people do & they stand out.

i rub some special juice on each of my discs which creates a distinct smell that people know is me. i've had several discs returned to me thanks to my magic juice.

For whoever finds my CE Eagle in Aurora, remember that my magic juice is still on that bad boy.

I think that CE Eagle wanted to cleanse itself of your magic juice, it went straight for the water as soon as it escaped your grip. :toothy10:

I found a putter in long grass (did he drive with his putter?) and called the dude. He said he lived right off the 7th hole, but I'd already left. So next time I'm by there I'll call and drop it off.

My initial thought was SWEET, free disc! Then I saw the contact information and couldn't keep it in good conscience.

Props to you for calling.  I've lost maybe 10 discs with my info on it, and only gotten one call.

Well, maybe if you ever won at Peanutbutter Hula-Square and scored a nice "Tranitized" disc, people would fear your PHD enough to give it to you before you dole out the harshness!

Seriously, though, thanks for the encouragement. I don't like putting my info out there but I'm thinking about doing this. I don't want to write it on the inside in bold black marker like the one I found. But I think no one will notice it if it's too small or out of the way.

Edit 8 July:
I played Adler last night with the intent of calling the owner when I got to the 7th hole. Two "youts" let me play in their game instead of on their heels. I told them about the extra putter because the subject of lost/found discs came up. When I told them about th 7th hole they named the owner's older brother. They said they'd take the disc to him. Sweet! And I didn't need to stop in the middle of my game.
