QuoteThe solution is already there: pay the $10 to play Edgebrook. When Edgebrook is successful you'll see another one pop up nearer to you. I did not see one instance of disrespectful play when we were at Edgebrook. I did not see one shard of glass anywhere on the course.

On the opening day there was a guy playing by himself, who sucked at ball golf, act like an ass.  He took a run at the two carts in our group with his after a bad drive.  I think that this is an isolated event.  All of the other people out there seemed cool.

I could out-drive that guy at ball golf. And I've never played ball golf.  B)

Maybe he was upset because he could see we were all out-driving him with discs.  :P

Could I possibly play any worse if I didn't practice putting??

I too had a ball golfer hit a ball at us while we were playing a hole at Edgebrook.  While we were pulling up to our drives we hear a "fore" from behind us....He proceeded to play right through us.  We just did the same to him, as he was approaching he ball we were still shooting down the fairway, we yelled "fore", and on went the round.  Most of the other players were cool.

I was a little upset, but we didnt exchange words, besides fore, no big deal really.  Just wanted to point out that it doesnt matter where you play, you will run into stupid people everywhere.

Jon Brakel

That is so true Joe. Besides being idiots every where, at Edgebrook most of the ball golfers still don't know what we're doing. The starter out there is doing a pretty good job of educating the ball golfers that are starting behind the disc golfers...but idiots are still idiots no matter what the game is.

Ever seen a martial arts movie?  Get those special minis with the razer edges.  Yes Grasshopper, they will learn soon. Don't bother the master while he is putting. :P
throwing stars

i have two, and keep them at home for a reason  :P

wonder if i could use them as markers.....  <_<

Bruce Brakel

Keep them at home.  If they are legal to possess in Illinois it is still a felony to carry them around.  In Michigan they are illegal to possess without a license.  I think.  If you are bringing them to Michigan I'll look it up!

Assholes are everywhere unfortunately, it's just a fact of life. I learned this while playing ball golf a lot. And mind you, I was a decent ball golfer - low 80's upper 70s. It seemed though, at least once a week, I'd run into a group you just couldn't play fast enough for, weather or not you were waiting for a group to leave the green they would hit into you. No amount of explanation every helped the situation. So, I thought of ways to make me happy when I encountered these boobs.

Usually, my first course of action was to park a wheel of the cart on their ball. This usually left it nice and buried. If they didn't get the hint from that, I would pull out a nice long club and smack their ball as far as I could to the left or right of the fairway - usually aiming for some wooded area or water. If that didn't work, I'd let them play through and hit into them, while verbally abusing their style of play. I only hit a ball back at a guy once, because the moron hit me. It was funny though because he saw what I was doing and got into his cart and started driving the other way.

I'm not sure I would do the let play through and throw into them for disc golf though. I always carried found balls with me, but, I don't carry any discs I'd want some asshole to steal from me. I haven't encountered the problem yet with disc golf. I honestly have yet to meet a jerk on a disc course. If I did though, I'm sure I could come up with something to ease my mind. The key is to do something that makes you happy. Don't worry so much about changing their attitude as much as doing something to keep your attitude good.

On the ball golf course I would just call the club house. I know it's a little bit of a weanie way out, but I'd rather they handle it than I get into it.

No, its not the weanie way out.  Notwithstanding the bold talk of throwing stars etc, we live in a weird world where road, or course, rage, can lead to who knows what.  You never know what's in their bag.  It may be more than discs or clubs or anything you are prepared to deal with.  If they are really such assholes, who knows where their limits might be.  In general, Clonefan is right.  Disc Golfers may tend to be oblivous but are rarely antisocial.  I ran into plenty of that in a past life as a ball golfer.

No, it's not! It's just that my ball golf days were back before mobile phones were such common place. So, if you were out around 6 or 7 it just wasn't feasable to get ahold of the clubhouse. Actually, at that time I don't think I could have even fit a cell phone in my bag.

Reading what Chainmeister said though really does make sense. I know of people who got shot for less than hitting a golf ball at someone.

To be honest, this discussion is one of the main reasons I don't play a lot of ball golf anymore. There sure were a lot of uptight people out there doing something that was supposed to be fun.

urine solves many problems be it discs or golf balls.
"The use of drugs is a perverse expression of individualism, antisocial and life-denying,It isn't an assertion of individuality; it's a substitute for it. It's not an attempt to be different when everyone else is becoming more alike; it's a way of copping out. And that's the worst thing you can do."

Well things finally blew up tonight at Adler. More chuckers throwing on top of league players. Chucker almost hits league player. League player gets pissed and says something. Chucker says what are you going to do. League player punches him in the face.

what a fun night of golf at adler leagues   <_<

not a fun league in my opinion unless you enjoy playing with a 40 year old child in your group and other actual children throwing down your backside every hole.  i win 46 bucks and still didn't really have fun.

So how's "The Chucker's" face/"Rattler's" fist?

Dan Michler

So what is the best way to handle a situation where a player is constantly telling others in the group after they putt that their feet were setup past their mark?  You know for a fact that you are setup legally and so are the other accused players.  In fact it isn't even close because he's gotten in your head and now your setup at least 6 inches behind your mark.  Obviously this can really get annoying when it happens several times throughout a round.

What did I do?  well at the end of the round i told him what he could do to himself
