The Capital City Challenge was alot of fun.  I think there was about 50 players there total.  Douglas is a very fun shorter type course.  Alot of elevation changes.  Lincoln Park is one of the top Illinois courses for sure.  It has alot of lenght and variety in an awesome park.  There is a cool pond that comes into play on a couple holes.  Hole 3 is definitlely the signature hole that plays through a tight gap into the trees with the road OB on the left, then turns 90 degrees to the right in front of a pond. the basket is about 20 feet away from the pond.  very very difficult hole.  playing it blind in the tournament made it even tougher (circle 7!!!).  Tom mcmanus, me, clark, and brett all agreed we'd kill to have either of those courses by us.

brett got 2nd in open and cleared 13 dollars on the day.  i lost by 1 thanks to that circle 7 and got 2nd in advanced.  the tournament was run very well and they had food available afterwards which was awesome and allowed us to play another round at Lincoln before going home   :)

I posted on the Springfield thread about the courses.

The tournament was well run. Both courses are very fun! I will go back next year. Food was ready when we got done with our round. You can't beat Free pop & 2 burgers for $3.00.

There was a nice player pack for the ams. Towel, mini, t-shirt, & bottle of water. They ended up giving the pros a towel & mini. There were several drawings for some free Subway & a CTP for each division. They also handed out a very nice program with course information & map to each park.

So, who is playing this tournament this year?  I am gonna try to drive down to Champaign friday night, play this on Saturday, and then head to the Homie on Sunday.  Not sure where I'm staying Saturday night, though.

I know Dan, Schuboy, Mukey, & I are heading to this event. Douglas is an ok course but I look forward to playing Lincoln again. I saw your post on the PDGA discussion board. Don't worry about prereg. It will not fill. I believe Tom Schodtler and Tom McManus are going as well. Slater and his crew will be going too. It's a good time. 2 good courses with some cheap food after round 2. Can't wait!

Alright, good.  I know some of my friends have already sent in registration so I wasnt sure.  I know I didnt prereg for the Homie last year.  That can hold a lot of players with two courses.

Both of these courses are fun to play. I really like Lincoln & it's on my top 5 in IL to play. Fantactic weather again this year. If you haven't been there you should. They are installing a 3rd course this fall.

Old Man thinks this tournament should be called "The Lincoln - Douglas Debate" since it takes place at Lincoln and Douglas parks. I thought that was humorous and thought I'd share.

Although the way education is anymore, how many people would get the connection?  ::)
