Since several people have mentioned they'd like to know when and where I'm doing some music - which I can confidently say I'm much better at than tournament disc golf, especially lately- please to indulge the following:

I'm playing on the Chicago Jazz Composers Collective series this Sunday, October 23 at about 3 pm, at the Green Mill, 4802 N. Broadway, Chicago. The first band - quite a good one - starts at 2 and my group is doing the 2nd set. Plenty of time to hit leagues, blow off the club meeting  :P  and head down. Over-21 though.

I'm a sideman with the Jeff Marx Trio at the Velvet Lounge, 2128. S. Indiana, on Friday Oct 28th, starting around 10. Jeff's a good saxophonist and is should be interesting.

I guarantee my own group, playing at the Velvet on Friday Nov 4th, *will* be interesting; featuring a couple of players off of my CDs.

Hope you can check it out.
thanks,
Damon

Could I possibly play any worse if I didn't practice putting??

Damon,

I too am MUCH better at music than disc golf, but I keep trying.  I was a performance major at NIU in the late 70's.  My main gigs now are the local big bands, specifically the Lewis University Jazz Band.  I play lead alto ... and my major instrument is the FLUTE.

wow; so was I. (composition, then performance.) Funny we didn't run across each other; I'll bet we remember some of the same people though.

You probably had comp classes with Jan Bach?  I had Pete Middleton for the flute stuff ... and played lead tenor in the 2nd jazz band under Ron Modell'

Damon,

Where's the Velvet, and what time are you playing?

Chainmeister

I assume you are not playing Widderrshins as you will get home after midnight the night before.  I hope to drag my brother (U of I composition major in early 80's) to your 11-4 show at the Velvet.

Actually I have played tournaments the night after gigs, doing well at Bevier a couple years ago, horribly at Lombard last May. Widdershins depends on the weather and my son's basketball schedule more than my physical condition.  ;)

Doug, details on location/start time are in my original post above.  B)
