So far we have had no interest for members running for a position. If anyone is interested in club operations I highly encourage you to volunteer or run for a position.

The ballot looks like this so far.

President
Brett Comincioli

Vice President
Jon Brakel

Treasurer
Allan Short

Secretary
Dan Michler

Side Note-->
I'm hoping 2006 is my last year as President. I'd like to see someone new that wants to give it a try. I'd like to stay aboard and volunteer but step down as president.

The club has moved to the next level & where i've envisioned it. My goal has been to get 100+ members & we have a good shot at getting there in 2006. We are financially stable after years of building. I have not quite reached the sponsorship i've been looking for & i'll give it another shot in 2006. An A-tier on a championship calibur course in the North Burbs would top it off for me.

You've all done a great job. Although I have not agreed with some decisions, I can now see that some of my past opinions (and some behavior) were not in the club's best interest.
Congrats on the many successes this year!  Keep it up!

Thanks Jim. I want you to know that if you ever wanted to come around we won't chase you off... :)

I think in the past we all argued over some small stuff. We are all different and have different opinions of what should & should not be done. Things got heated and we took the topics to a personal level. I think all of us who play and care about disc golf want to see the sport grow. For those of us involved with the club we all want what is best for the club and for it to grow.

I've learned from past experiences the hard way with message boards and the club. I've learned not to take message board posts personally & i've tried to think when I post about the way the post is going to be perceived. Sometimes I still fail at this but at least I think about it now.

We've tried to take a new approach with handling many issues behind the scenes with only a handful of us bitching at each other rather than everyone about certain topics. We still get irratated about issues and with each other but I think we now understand how to deal with those issues. It also keeps a postive vibe going when in the past that negativity was public. We've also streamlined many ways of dealing with votes and meetings that makes things more official.

We hope you consider being part of the club again and coming around. We all appreciate the kind words. There is not one of us that makes this club go. It's everyone involved from officers, members, volunteers, td's, league players, & tournament players. The more the merrier!

What Mirth and Brett said speaks for me also. You are the founder of Discontinuum and are always welcome at league, meetings and other club functions. The results have been good. I wish I could say I didn't have any regrets on the getting there part. And I am STILL trying to learn to keep a message board frame of mind when both writing and reading messages.

Hugs.  Kisses.  If you still bear any animosity towards me it is not returned.  I always thought and said that you are a reasonably fun person to play a round with, an energetic volunteer.  If I said other stuff, well, we all said a lot of stuff we could have said better, later or not at all.

--  You didn't die, did you?  This is all starting to sound like a eulogy or something.

Could I possibly play any worse if I didn't practice putting??

Nope, no death.
Not even a spiritual rebirth.
Just getting older and realizing that some of my tactics to hold onto a club (that I was letting go of anyway) were less than smart or amicable (and that some amends should be made before moving to Texas this summer).

And I appreciate the kind words from y'all.
Each of you have done a great job, especially with the IOS and the leagues.
Your energies and talents may not be appreciated by everyone, but disc golf needs you guys.
Keep up the good work!!!

Bruce Brakel

Ah.  I have many [or five, anyway] fond memories of the summer we lived in Texas:

The time Ann was stung by a bee.
The time we had watermelon.
The time we had grapefruit.
The time I was terrorized by giant dancing sombreros.
The time I lost my shoe.

I was two or three.  Good times.  If you ever get to Six Flags, let us know if they still have terrible giant dancing sombreros.

[inhale]  I see terrible, giant, monopedic, dancing sombreros eating grapefruit every day.
Dude. [/exhale]

Where in Texas are you moving to? And get used to that y'all thing. It's very big down there.

Austin, or just north of Austin, in either Cedar Park or Leander.
Great schools, wonderful housing costs and choices, and one or two disc golf courses in the area. :)

We've narrowed things down to 2 communities; either way, we'll be within an hour of no fewer than 10 courses, and both SanSaba and Moody's will be within 1.5 hours.  There are also about 4 clubs within 2 hours of each other, some seem serious, some don't. One thing is fer sher: there will be tons of events, both sanctioned and unsanctioned.

Chris Himing is now doing a Texas 10 Tour as well as a Texas 7 Tour, almost every event is for charity (but still have payouts). I saw an early draft of the Texas schedule, and it is insane. The PDGA mileage/distance between events rule will surely screw things up.

Jon Brakel

I really like the Austin area and although I haven't spent too much time down there I have been able to play 3 courses around there. The "worst" of their 18 hole courses there are better than all the courses in Lake County and better most of the courses in Illinois. You will have fun shooting down there. There are a couple of "Brakels" down there to be aware of. They don't go by that name, but one of them is a really easy going cajun and the other is kinda like Bruce but even more so. I forget which club they belong to now.
