Brett, what day(s) are you free this week? I'd like to get together with Trigg.

jim

We can also use the rope for lynching sandbaggers!  :)

Jon, I'd like to sponsor either Hole 7,8, or 9. Doesn't really matter.

Good work on Saturday from all those who showed up! We got a lot done and the course looks great!

You guys will pull off a fine event!

I think even the Pros will suffer some "shrinkage" at those holes!

jim

Forecast is better. Low 80s and all sun.

WGN Weather, that is.

jim

OUR FIRST C-TIER IS HISTORY!

What a day!  Although Jon and Brett had to turn away nearly 30 players because a full field was registered before 8am!  44 total online preregistrations!  Wow!

Payouts were good, no casualties, a fun final 4, and a profit was made. Woo-hoo!

BIG THANKS TO: Jon, Brett, Bruce, Becky, Jay, Carrie, Brandon, Slim, Madissen, Dr. Dye, Phenix Disc Sports, the RL Park District, the RL Police Department, and so many others who helped execute a really fun day!

THANKS also to all the players!  We hope you had fun!

jim

Mitch played AM Masters?  He's been playing for 15+ years. Sad when you have to sandbag on your home course.

jim

Yeah, we had to turn almost 30 people away, which is unfortunate. The PDGA limits the number of players to a maximum of 5 per hole grouping. 18x5=90 players max. With more than 5 per hole, that first round would have taken 4 or 5 hours instead of 3.

Although many thought we would fill up, we never thought it would have happened so fast for our first C-Tier event. 44 online pre-registrations only left 46 spots on Sunday morning. Those were gone fast.

Sorry you didn't get to play. Next year, perhaps we will have a 2-day event.

But....

don't forget about the Bevier Blast on September 20th! we're hoping to get that sanctioned as well. but because Bevier is so small, we're maxing out at 60 players (12 holes x 5 players = 60 players max.)  Maybe we'll stick in a few extra holes, but there's not much room there.

jim

And I just gotta say . . .

In my own humble opinion, Jon and Brett did a great job! The teamwork that went into this event was evident Sunday. Facing massive crowds, including top pros and dozens of newbies, handling lots of merchandise, and coordinating payouts and people and.....

they stood strong, and got da bidness dun!

Good job, fellas. I wish it could have all been on tape.

jim

Some food sponsor would have been great. Who were the folks selling gatorade, etc.? I missed some of the awards and thank-yous because of officating the 3rd/4th place pro playoff, so if they were mentioned, i missed it.

Our Pizza Hut sponsor is specifically the Waukegan Pizza Hut at Sunset & Lewis. I have no idea where the closest PH is to Fairfield Park.  But we are currently working on finalizing sponsorship and making flyers.

FMI, see the thread of 2003 Bevier Blast within a day or two.

Cedar Lake Indiana is 93 miles from Round Lake. I'm not sure we'd get people from Indiana but it may take away players from the Joliet area.

It does say on the pdga that tournaments of c-b need to be 250 miles apart. It also says if both TD's agree that they can be scheduled on the same day. I was looking at the pdga & it is loaded. I don't mind pushing it back but one of the main reasons I wanted to have this tournament in August is to promote the Bevier Blast. We'll have to sit down & crunch Jon!

Looks like this event is going to be rescheduled. We are looking for a  new date with the assistance of PDGA. Current PDGA rules really restrict us with scheduling due to the amount of sanctioned tournaments in the midwest. We have to look at 5 states schedules.

Sanctioned B&C tournaments have to be 250 miles apart.

Sanctioned C&C tournaments have to be 200 miles apart.

200-250 miles covers WI, IL, IN, IA, & MI. It doesn't cover the entire state of these but it does cover the majority of areas with sanctioned tournaments. Indianapolis is within 250 miles of Round Lake. Hopefully the PDGA will realize we are in a key location to host a PDGA events & help us out.
