I need to start walking off if I'm having a good rated round.  If I can't play intermediate by next year then I might not be able to afford to play many more events.

... Next tournament we might have the certified officials raise their hands at the players meeting.

There were in fact a ton of rules infractions during Sunday play. It would be good if the officials walked the course during the round and were available for on the spot calls.

For next year's IOS, every player should be provided with GPS equipment and punch in the TDs whenever they see a questionable play.  :police:

:director: "...Falling putt on hole 4!!"

I think the officials have plenty to do without walking the course besides.  ;)  Any player is entitled to call a rules infraction if (s)he sees one, after all. Most players are pretty reasonable about it and in some cases aren't even aware of the rule anyhow.

Could I possibly play any worse if I didn't practice putting??

The Popstand CTP worked great for the popstand.  Sales were brisk and the brass collected as payment for the pop was enough to cover the 20 Brass prize.  We'll do it both days at Aurora and up the prize to 25 Brass.

The girls now have enough money for their trip to USWDGC.  We are still trying to work out the transportation arrangements.  They will work out.  We might have to rent a second car once we get there or something.

It would be nice to see players actually finish there rounds and not walk off just because they didn't shoot well in the 2nd round of the tournament.

I can understand having to end the round due to INJURY or EMERGENCY; but I can confirm that wasn't the case this Saturday at Streamwood.

If you shoot a bad round well you shot a bad round!!  Skipping out of your last few holes to take a DNF to avoid a BAD RATING is unsportsmenlike or I should say "poor sportsmenship".

It is really nice to see that I am not the only one who thinks this should be addressed - I also think it is funny that some have done it who are Tournament directors of events!!

Maybe it should just be like when you arrive late & get 7s for every hole you missed......if you start & don't finish you should take 7s

white_rhino

Can't there be a stipulation at the players meeting that if you do not see the TD about your DNF to verify that you have a legitimate reason that you will be given bogey's or double bogey's for the rest of the course and your card will be turned in that way.

Jon has been DNFing because he has been rehabbing from a back injury.  He has never played a partial tournament when we were full.  Each time Jon played as many holes as he had planned and put himself on a foursome so they could finish as a threesome.  Some TDs DNF because they are needed back at tournament central.

I like the PGA/USGA rule: Failure to finish a tournament without a medical excuse or a family emergency is grounds for further disciplinary sanctions.  But I'm also fine with our more relaxed rule.

I appreciate it when the DNFs let us know.  The one drawback of offering trophy-only is that those players seem to DNF more.

I am one of those that did not finish the 2nd round. No injury, but something more important...my wedding anniversary. It sucked, but had to be done.

I am not aware of any TDs of events that have quit because they were having a bad round. Care to elaborate?

I was not speaking of TD's who have quit their own event - but those who quit another event because he had a bad first round - this person has done this several times.

Sad thing is why isn't it treated the same if you missed your first holes rather than missing your last holes?

That is what they did they basically didn't finish there last couple holes and took 7's on them and they get a DNF.  Why is that different?  OH they didn't finish because of lack of skill maybe that the difference?

Cannon Boy

Who cares if someone else does not finish.  Is that going to hurt you by them not finishing.  If they want to walk off to keep a good pdga ranking I could care less.  Last time I checked your pdga ranking does not play for you.

keeping a high rating doesnt do anything for you except give something to brag about.  If anything, a lower rating helps you by allowing you to play lower divisions.  My rating blows but I'm also not very good at disc golf.  I dont really care where my rating goes, as long as I feel like I'm shooting to my ability.

What does it say about the sport if people act like whining little babies because they are worried about their precious Rating.

I know that Ball Golf and Disc Golf are two seperate sports but would you think it "OK" as you say it is if Tiger walked off after the 8th hole of the 2nd round because he was having a bad day?

The point is simple - unless you are physically unable to complete the round - Be a Sportsman about it and finish out the round.

Tiger would be fined and then referred to the disciplinary committee for further review.  Last year Michelson walked off without doing the mandatory post-round interview and he got fined.

It hurts the process in lots of obvious ways when you walk off in the middle of a round.  If you cannot see how, think about it.
