WTF. On ESPN. This is driving me nuts. Along with food eating, paint ball, scrabble, dominoes, spelling bee, obstacle course, & all the other crap, I still can't believe disc golf can't get on TV.

Some of those programs are paying money to be on ESPN with an arrangement where they are responsible for selling their own ad time.  That is what disc golf TV was doing a few years ago when it was on TV.

It ALL comes down to $$$.  You pay ESPN, you get on ESPN.  You get major sponsors at a tournament, get a big payout purse, you can get on ESPN.

Its also good PR folks.  We missed an opportunity last week.  With all the buzz over the PGA tournament, we may have enticed a local station to send a camera to Bevier on Friday to get some "alt golf" video.  Who knows, they may have taken the bait.  Just imagine, if they had Joe's Ace on the first shot of the day.  That would have been pretty cool.

before you can get national coverage, try for local coverage. i bet comcast sports network would be easy to convince to do an hour show on a tournament.
also before DG can really make it on tv there needs to be better coverage of it. i think thats why ball golf does so well is that there are multiple cameras out there filming every shot. wouldn't it be nice to get ~18 people together with cameras to tape footage of one of IOS's and then get someone whos into video editing to take and put it all together and then send it in. i truely believe the path to national coverage has to begin locally and build a fan base. or maybe the pdga just needs to stop wasting money on writing crappy constitutions/bylaws and pay to be on espn.

That's a great idea with the video footage, but you need a ton of volunteers to get everything right. See the MSDGC videos. They've got at least 2 people on every hole with a camera. Doesn't hurt that the courses they have are PREMIUM, especially when compared to IL courses. I know I've talked with several club members this year about course design and the apparent lack-of in our area. We need Championship Caliber courses to attract the Championship Caliber players. No one wants to watch Amateur golf as much as they want to watch the Pros. We've all watched the Pro part of the MSDGC videos & I'm sure you've watched the Advanced division, as did I, but it's the Pros making spectacular shots that I really want to see.

Can you say "Steeevve Briiinster!" anybody?

An Armored-Car full of sponsor money wouldn't hurt either.  :-\

I also agree at how stupid this programing is on espn. I play rugby as well as disc golf. I know that usa rugby is hurting becuase nobody knows anyting about the sport mainly becuase you cant see it on tv. You turn on espn and you see a dominos tournment or 4 hours of poker. I know that putting a game that goes for 40 mins each half with no breaks sucks because you cant really put comercials on but do what every other country does just put a lot before and after the game is on. I just hate espn. that is all.

man i wish rugby was on tv more every once in awhile when fox sports was on cable you'd catch on. its better than football.
