QuoteWe are only about a month away before Milwaukee will be hosting a PDGA B-tier event that is featured on the Wisconsin Disc Golf Tour and will also be your preview to the  2007 Am Worlds

We will be running all 4 courses over a 2 day period which should really give you a taste of what you will see in July.  I have secured an 'off season' rate with the  Four Points Sheraton Brown Deer  which is the same primary host hotel we are using for Am Worlds.  You MUST CALL in to reserve that price and use the code  GMO  when doing so.  The number is: 414.355.8585.

Online registration is quick and easy and can be found on my website,  Take Flight Today.  On Tuesday, April 24th I received 8 online registrations in one day.  I think that's a pretty good indicator that we might reach our max capacity of 288 total players for this event.

The   list of pre-registered players  will be updated frequently.  If you wish to download and mail in a  registration form  you can do so as well.

Many thanks go out to the sponsors that have already signed on with the event including,  InnovaLifetime Disc SportsWoodchuck Hard CiderMilwaukee County Parks, and  The Great Lakes Disc Golf Club.

One final note - ALL of the courses need some work before this event can happen so please contact Mark Peterson (262-224-5824) or myself about future workdays (mainly on Tuesday nights and Saturdays).

Terry,

Will all the courses be set up how they will be played for Am World's? Can't wait to play them.

We are going to do our best to get them as close to the Am Worlds layout as possible.  Part of hosting this event is for us to double check a few holes here and there.  So can I say that 100% of what you see at the GMO will be at the Worlds - NO.  However, we are going to do our best to make them match up.  The PDGA wants us to take the data gathered at the GMO to ensure we use correct pin placements for the Worlds.

It should be insane that weekend.  I know Des Moines is going on but I think we seriously might get to our 144 advanced men's field limit!

Terry,

I probably won't be able to make it to any events up there prior to worlds.  I want to head up to practice, but I 've read that the courses are not open yet.  Do you know when/if the courses will be open for casual play so I can at least play the courses a couple times?

Here is what I have been mailing out today regarding the courses:

Milwaukee County Disc Golf Courses Need Your Help!

Brown Deer, Dineen, & Dretzka Disc Golf Courses will NOT put their baskets back in until the necessary work is done.

All 3 of these courses need some work done such as tee pad preparation, debris clearing, and trash pick up.  The only way this will get done is if YOU help out the club.

Work days are Tuesday nights and Saturdays.  Please contact Mark Peterson so you can come and help out:  262-224-5824

Both online and mail in registrations are coming in on a daily basis now.  I even went out to the PDGA schedule to start playing around with pool assignments tonight.  I am planning on a large crowd in many of the divisions.  Of course the Advanced Divisions will be huge.

Please mail in or get online and get signed up asap for this event.  It will be a good time!

Do you have an "idea" of who is playing what course/when?
Pin placements at the courses?

Hey Serg,

I'm just about to post a similar message in response to Bruce on the PDGA message board.

Until I get a little better idea of the numbers I really can't even guess too much as to where and when each group will be playing.  Those decisions will have to be made once the courses are 100% complete (which they aren't yet) and once we get a better feel of the numbers.

It probably sounds lame but the pins won't be extremely hard nor extremely easy - they will be somewhere in between.  Thanks for already signing up.

Here is what I just posted on the PDGA Discussion Board:

Great questions Bruce.

I can tell you what I'm currently PLANNING. As with every event of this (potential) size this is very much still subject to change depending on actual turnout in each pool.

Here is my current plan:

Pool A - All professional divisions
Pool B - Intermediates, Juniors, Recs
Pool C - Advanced Men
Pool D - Other other advanced divisons

HOWEVER ... if we do not have at least 50 (or so) per pool these might be condensed into only 3 pools.

I hope you guys can make it.

I'm such an idiot.  I saw "Am Worlds Preview" and I thought it was a thread to read for Am Worlds announcements.  I didn't read anything on the thread; I just posted.

I wanted to know about was pool assignments for Am Worlds.  If junior girls are with the women, we can play.  If they are with the junior boys, we don't have a transportation solution, unless Kiralyn decides to girl-up and play Adv Women.  I was going to suggest she girl up and play 16 and under, instead of 13 and under, because she beat Rebecca in Peoria but has never played these other girls.

Our Worlds alternate plan is they stay at girls camp for another week and I play Worlds alone.  I don't know if I would have much fun on my own.

Just short of two weeks away and we have close to 70 pre-registered.

Four different courses over the span of  two days is pretty sweet.  The prices are very reasonable for a PDGA B-Tier.  In fact, comparing these prices to many other A and B tiers you will find we are offering more golf for your dollar than most of the events out there.  I'm excited to have a huge Advanced field as well as other fun stuff like a flymart on Saturday night at the host hotel.  There will be special incentives for showing up to that.

We also are working on raffling a 'Holsten' basket.  Everyone out there knows these are some of the nicest baskets on the planet so look for more details on that.

Please feel free to register quickly and easily online using  Take Flight Today or save a few bucks and  download the flyer and mail it in.  In order to finalize pool assignments and make the event run more smoothly we want everyone to get registered by Thursday, May 24th (or be subject to the $10 late fee).

Our custom Innova order will be arriving in a few days so we will have plenty of product to choose from.

PS - Don't forget one of the best Am only events in the country is just the following weekend in Sussex.  Mike Batka's  Wham Bam Thank You Am is just a few days after the GMO.  Come to the Milwaukee area for the GMO then practice Sussex on Monday.  Show up a few days later for Mike's event and win that one too!

Not sure yet on the pools and where and when they will be playing each course.  That really just comes down to pre-registration.  I wish we were at 200 people right now and I could finalize all of those decisions but with only about 70 people spanning 4 pools it's hard to say how things will shake out.  This is just another reason how pre-registering helps ensure a smoothly run event.

My above post mentioned 4 (or possibly only 3) pools and that's still the case.

Brown Deer's pins are in but they were randomly thrown in this past weekend with no thought of the event.

The plan was to put Dretzka's pins in today but I'm not sure if that is going to happen or not (it's not my call).  If they go in, they will be pretty close to what you will see at the GMO.

Up to  96 people pre-registered and that doesn't even count the two dozen that have said, "The check is in the mail" or "I'll catch you at league this week."

Mail is still cool but just remember that if you are handing it to my anytime after Thursday then you will be incurring the late fee.  I've been advertising for this event for quite a while now so there is no excuse to not print out your entry form and get it in the mail tomorrow!

The advanced division is steadily growing.  One entire pool to themselves right now and we have a cap of 72 per pool.

Just a reminder ... we are capping the pools at 72 each.  That means that only the first 72 advanced players to pre-register will be in the C-Pool.  The rest will be going into another pool.

Everything is still a numbers game right now.  People keep asking about the pools and assignments but I can't nail too much down because of the (lack of) pre-registration.  Help the event out and get signed up now.

I just updated  pre-registration and we are up to 129.  That means I took in 28 registrations just in the last 48 hours!  I even had a refund in that mix.

Sorry that I missed it on the website but player's meeting is at 9:15 at Dretzka on Saturday morning - all divisions, all pools.

An e-mail to all registered players will come out in the next 24 hours.  It will have even more event details.

Has anybody done this?  I tried calling the hotel this evening.  They have availability, but no one knew anything about "GMO" or special rates.  They told me to call back in the morning and talk to Annette.  ::)

Dretzka Old---This course is played from the short tees, with a mix of pin placements.  Its a pretty simple, deuce or die type course from the shorts.

Dretzka New---Had some fun and interesting holes.  Mostly open with a few tight holes in the woods.  This is also a short, deuce or die type course.

Dineen---Very open holes.  A few with some length.  Deuce or die course.

Brown Deer---ALOT of tight tunnel shots, with a few longer open holes.  This course is alot of fun and will really challenge everybody.  This is a great course.

Nice shooting Dan.  It looks like Michler is back.  Was Brown Deer the course where par was a1000+ round?
