I am wondering if anyone has made up a scorecard for Shady Oaks park in Streamwood.  There is one on the Streamwood Park District website, but I think the hole distances are wrong and they have all the holes as par 3's.  Obviously there are holes on that course that are worthy of a par 5 (ie #15).  If anyone has something made up, or has any input on what the par should be for the holes let me know.  Thanks.

well they redesigned some of the holes since i last played there last year, but i think hole 15 is a par 4 and everything else is a par 3.  if u want par to be something else than you can make your own par too.

I have score cards from last year's IOS but if some of the holes have changed since last year then it isn't going to be very accurate. I agree with Dan. Number 15 is probably a par 4. Almost impossible for me to get a three on but really easy to get a 5. But I'm a Rec rated player and par should probably be based on a higher rated player.

Disc Golf has no standards for par though, so go ahead, make up your own par!

I am willing to bear the burden of being the one who declares all standards.  Hole 15 is a 4.  The rest are threes.  Why don't you post your card, Jon?  I don't think the dude is saying they've changed any of the holes since last year.

The "dude" didn't, but Dan did.

Elmo & company are working with the park district to make improvements to Shady Oaks.  A few pins will be moved, a few tees will be moved, & "official" alternate tees will be established.  I don't know what the time frame is, but some of the changes have already been made.  New scorecards will probably be available soon.

It's also possible that we will soon be saying goodbye to those awesome wood-chip tees.

These guys are always at leagues on Tuesday nights, so head out there to get the complete, accurate story.

I'm honestly kinda glad that the woodchip tees might go away.  I re-injured my knee playing the IOS last year because of unstable footing in the woodchips on the very first hole I played, and the entire day was terrible for me.  It was partially my own fault since I didn't have my kneebrace on that day, but I don't need the brace if it's a concrete or rubber teepad.  I'll still wear it for precautionary reasons lately, but thankfully my knee is doing a LOT better.

ah, now I understand :D  I hope they changes work out for the best because you could have a pretty nice course in there.  A lot of those holes were tough already!

Some guy I played with Sunday said he preferred wood chip tees!   :o

i just got back from minneSNOWta, and played the shady oaks course (my home course in illinois) for the first time in over a year.  i guess they do have many alternate tees in, although they are marked with white bricks in the grass and are very hard to find.  most of them are shorter, but i would recommend playing the alternate for #2 and #5, especially 2 cuz that hole just became my new favorite i think because of the challenge to it.  I'm gonna try and find a way to mark out the alternates so they are easier to find.  (if anyone is curious to know where they are, i walked around and found most of them)

I didn't hear anything about the pins changing, i know there has been talk about putting in concrete tee pads (cuz yeah, the woodchips are terrible.  they look classy, but suck to play on).

also, my friends and i play hole 14 1/2.  After hole 14, go up towards the street, on the sidewalk, and back towards the beginning of hole 14.  theres going to be an opening in the trees, (we try and put a marker in the grass) and you throw to pin #11 (be aware of players actually playing 11).  then we head to 15 as normal.

if anyone knows who to contact to help improve shady oaks in streamwood, please drop my a line.

If I had a map, I could draw the alternates out. Next week during league, I'm going to write down all the distances for the regular and alternate tees. That 14 1/2 you're talking about is actually the alternate for 14.

All alternates are marked with white bricks

1
Alternate is down the path to the right, throwing between two trees

2
Alternate is west of the playground on the other side of the path.

3
Regular tee pad is going to be the old alternate pad (to the left of the regular closer to the creek)
Alternate is going to be the old regular pad
This hole will now play to old 18's basket and will eventually be moved about 15/20 feet to the left

4
Alternate is past the regular pad and to the left
(Marty and I deuced the regular for $150 last night  ;D)

5
New Alternate for 5 is very visible.

6
Alternate is to the right of the regular quiet a bit

7's basket will be moved closer to the regular tee pad
The alternate will be moved to behind the regular tee pad next to the reeds
The new regular tee pad will be moved far to the left of the regular tee pad now

8
Alternate is to the right of the regular, past the reeds. You should be able to see the path

9
Alternate is along the fence

10
Alternate is along the reed on the right

11
You will see the bricks on the path

12
Regular pad will now be the alternate
New pad will be right off the path, to the left, just as you cross the little creek

13
Basket and alternate pads are getting completely changed.

15
Alternate is about 275 feet up and to the left of the lone standing tree

16
Alternate is up closer on the left

17
Alternate is now closer than the regular
Regular is getting moved back

18
Will now play to old 3's basket
Alternate is across the path on the left

Wow, I must be bored. I'm sure I've missed something too...

Hopefully once all the changes are made the Park District will post a good map on thier website.  I really enjoy the current "regular" tees (the ones near the wood signs) because many different types of shots are required...Although the wood chips can be treacherous.  Thanks for the info.

KentastiK

Hole 14
closer to the pin, on the left by the trees, past the sidewalk.

other than that, i think you "aced" them all.  i found them all except for hole 6 and hole 10 on my first run through, but i'll easily be able to find them now.  congrats on that duece man, thats a hard hole to do that on, requires that perfect putt.  and play the alternate to hole 2, i love the alternate, it adds more of a challenge.  and dont tamper with 13 too much, thats one of my favortie holes on the course.
