has anyone played this tourney or this course? is it a tough course? well-run? I seem to remember hearing this being a great tourney for IL players to play in.

if you're playing the short tees and it's not windy, it's an easy course. Otherwise it can be tricky but definitely not 'brutal'. It's out by the interstate so it's usually pretty windy though, and there are some decent elevation changes. (if you're playing the day after Peoria, you'll think it's *really* easy  ;) )

I haven't been out there in awhile but I think there are some alternate tees in addition to the longs. Regardless of the conditions I've always enjoyed the course.  I can't go but I'd definitely recommend it.

Could I possibly play any worse if I didn't practice putting??

I played here last year & had played the course once before then.  It's got a lot of elevation changes, plenty of trees, & 3-4 wooded holes.  Last year was pretty windy, 1000 rated rounds were -7 from the shorts & even from the longs.  There are 3 temp holes, one of them a long, big downhill.  I like the course a lot, & will play from the longs for the first time this year.

It's pretty well run, long transition between rounds, & the final 9 takes a while, so it's a bit of a long day.  The players pack was a little light (t-shirt & mini).  They should have a lot of CTP's, maybe one per hole.  Not much participation from Chicago-North golfers, but a handful were there from the Joliet area last year.

Mukey & I are leaving around 6 on Sunday morning from the western burbs.

I played Geneseo the other week for the first time and was really impressed!  LOTS of elevation (as stated)...I think that I read somewhere that the first 50 (AMs?) registered will be getting something.  I like all the Iron Lion gear.  Good weekend of disc golf in Illinois...See you there!

After seeing Damon's post we decided we're leaving at 5:30 am instead of 6. Holy early start Batman!

Anyone else going?

This course was very nice & reminded me of a harder Sussex park. Elevation shots create risk/reward with chances of rolldowns, losing discs in tall grass/shule, a few must make dueces & a few tough threes/happy with a four holes. Very fun temp holes. Michler took 3rd in Adv., Jason Poole took 1st in Int. + a CTP & I got 7th(of 26) in Int + a CTP.

LOTS of CTPs added cash. Chris Sprague commented that he plays tourneys all over the country & this was one of the better payouts he's seen. Food was right around the corner. Recommended for next year.

P.S. 2 hours from the Western 'burbs, not really pushing it. (I88 & Rt. 31 to the park) Coulda slept later.

I'll have course pictures on my MySpace page sometime this week
