I think the Bears will get back to .500 this week if they can hold Kevin Jones under 100 yards.

By no means will the Bears crush anybody this year, let alone the Lions. When the defense allows an average of more than 20 points a game and over 100 yards of rushing a game it is tough to crush a team. Yes they might win, and not cover the spread, but they will not crush them. It should be a good game for both teams. Whoever the winner is I hope they both bet the Packers for the division. I can't see Green Bay beating Denver Monday night which will make the race that much closer, but it is the NFL and anything can happen. And another note to remember, even if the Bears win on Sunday, the Lions will still be ahead of them in the division.

I give the Lions some credit. It's taken a while and they've had some busts but they have continued to go out and pick up offensive players. They have improved greatly. Now that the Bears are out of it i'm hoping they win the division.

The Super Bowl calibur defensive years are coming to an end. The Bears continued to ignore the offensive side of the ball and it's starting to come back and haunt them. It didn't help they gave away the better of the two RB's they had. Benson is a bust. He's had one 100yd game and has not had a run over 20 yards all year. The lack of being able to move the ball on the ground has killed us this year. Our defense has been on the field more than any team in the NFL this year.

We need an offensive line first.  Then we need a RB.  Then we need a QB.  Then we need a good possession receiver to go with Berrian and Olsen.  Then we need an offensive coordinator who wants to spread things out and get some first downs to keep the defense off the field.  The NFL is a passing league and has been for several years now.  Having a balanced offense makes things alot easier, but its tough to have a decent rushing game if you have no passing attack.  I see teams every week though that give up on the run but throw the ball up and down the field successfully (see the patriots).  We need to come up with a solid offseason strategy this year that focuses solely on building an offense quickly.

I'm surprised that you like Berrian so much.  I usually agree with most of what you've said about the Bears, but I think that Berrian has one strength; the fly pattern.  We used to have a good possession receiver in Marty Booker.  Muhammad was a good possession receiver with another good WR on the other side of the field.  I don't think he has that right now.

I think both Berrian and Muhammad drop far too many passes for them to be considered even remotely effective receivers.

What do Bears fans and NBC have in common?

At the halfway point of the season they both have given up on the Bears.

NBC decided they didn't want the Seahawks and Bears, they decided to take the New England and Buffalo game instead. Just think how well the Bears would be doing if they still had Dick Jauron.

Dan Michler

NBC would be crazy not to make that decision.

Nice to see Rex have to come in and step up. He played without making any major mistakes except maybe that first from center snap and he delivered the game winning pass. Go Bears!!!

our offense was absolutely ridiculous all day.  denver was up 2 touchdowns which was undoubtedly more than enough to win the game.  all you have to do is not have a turnover deep in your own territory, and not allow our special teams to score.............How does Denver F$@$ THAT UP!!!!!!!  good times :)  that game was a crowd pleaser for sure.

maybe with Mcnabb coming back the bears will play slightly better next year.
Let us hope that the whores of evil no longer loiter on the doorsteps of your path beckoning you into the brothel of despair, and that here and after may present them with the most rigid manistfestation of a firm and manly will.

There's problems with pretty much all of the Bears game right now. Devin is one reason why they're still fun to watch. I imagine that if the Bears were any good, they'd be dominating. Other teams are spending a lot of practice time getting ready for Devin that it doesn't leave them as much time to practice against other aspects of the Bears' game. But since they don't really have that much game at this point I guess it doesn't matter.

It makes me wonder if part of their problem is confidence. I see them making good plays now and again but not anything consistently. That game tying touch down pass from Grossman to Barrien with 30 seconds left in regulation is the kind of highlight catch that you in weekend highlights from other teams with top notch QBs and receivers...not the Bears. If they could get the kind of confidence to play that way all the time maybe they could deliver some more wins this year.

That games was a highly entertaining game played by a team that showed it is going nowhere.  Hester was [insert positive adjective here].  Berrien's catch to tie the game was excellent.  However, he and the other receivers left Grossman out to dry most of the game.  Grossman played much better than his statistics. He was sharp, made good decisions and only made one bad play- the fumble.  His interception was on a play that called for him to let his receivver win a one on one battle.  The receiver did a lousy job and the ball was picked.  Grossman, despite an [insert negative adjective here] offensive line, moved well to give himself a chance to throw.  He has played much better since his return from the bench.  Nonetheless, this team has a million holes.  Jerry Angelo will earn, or fail to earn, his salary this coming off season.  He has a lot of work to do.   All that being said, an overtime victory in front of the home faithful with clutch plays and heartstopping returns was a lot of fun to watch.

Agreed. Grossman was uncharacteristically accurate and moved in the pocket better than I've ever seen.  Those guys were dropping everything!  Jerry Angelo needs to hire somebody to draft offensive players for him.

How come no "inciteful" analysis about the Bears play today?

Dan Michler

i have stopped watching NFL games for 2007 and did not watch any of the game, but had I seen the game I would probably tell you that they Bears played as well as expected.  Its hard to have good results when you have no good players.
