[CEValkyrie] 8:33 pm: we started on finances
[mirth] 8:33 pm: I sorta kinda just rembered and fired up the notebook so maybe we could go to the next topic and get to finances in a couple minutes
[mirth] 8:34 pm: now, who is alice?
[The Lounge]: krupicka has left at 8:34 pm
[CEValkyrie] 8:34 pm: so to recap, Brett owes club $274 & has 44DX, 4 KC, 48 Champ, & 40 Star discs in his posession
[tpmcm] 8:34 pm: Are those club discs?
[CEValkyrie] 8:35 pm: those may or may not go to the gas staition depending on the owner
[CEValkyrie] 8:35 pm: that is another topic
[mirth] 8:35 pm: ah
[ChrisPUTTS] 8:35 pm:
[CEValkyrie] 8:35 pm: mirth anything to add to finances?
[Chainmeister] 8:35 pm: Who was that? player? intruder?
[mirth] 8:36 pm: next time alice comes back let me kill her
[Jon] 8:36 pm: malicious prankster is my guess
[The Lounge]: has left at 8:36 pm
[mirth] 8:36 pm: well, seeing how I can't see the discussion prior to my entering the room, I don't know
[mirth] 8:36 pm: Alice is a chatroom bot
[CEValkyrie] 8:36 pm: Next
[CEValkyrie] 8:36 pm: #2
[The Lounge]: tree has left at 8:36 pm
[The Lounge]: tree has entered at 8:36 pm
[damonshort] 8:36 pm: Is Alice a bot of some sort? Is my text any better? Did anyone bring snacks?
[The Lounge]: Dan Michler has entered at 8:36 pm
[CEValkyrie] 8:37 pm: 2008 club elections
[mirth] 8:37 pm: Damon = make your text white
[tree] 8:37 pm: ok now I'm on the laptop.
[Chainmeister] 8:37 pm: Your text is difficult, but possible, to read. Its dark against a dark background. Everybody else seems white against a dark background.
[CEValkyrie] 8:37 pm: Tom Schodtler has been nominated for a position
[tree] 8:37 pm: which position?
[CEValkyrie] 8:38 pm: that was not specified
[CEValkyrie] 8:38 pm: Tom Mcmanus was nominated for VP
[tree] 8:38 pm: Is he willing to serve?
[damonshort] 8:38 pm: Alice is a bot of some sort I bet
[CEValkyrie] 8:38 pm: yes, willing to serve
[tree] 8:38 pm: Anyone up for Prez?
[damonshort] 8:38 pm: test
[Jon] 8:38 pm: he's not here, is he
[mirth] 8:38 pm: he's on but apparently away
[CEValkyrie] 8:39 pm: no one is up for prez
[damonshort] 8:39 pm: I created room "The Lounge"
[The Lounge]: krupicka has entered at 8:39 pm
[tpmcm] 8:39 pm: I nominate Brett for president.
[CEValkyrie] 8:39 pm: sec
[Jon] 8:39 pm: sec?
[damonshort] 8:39 pm: d
[CEValkyrie] 8:39 pm: i would prefer to see someone to take over
[Chainmeister] 8:39 pm: I can't read whatever was just written in purple.
[Jon] 8:39 pm: Damon, change your color right next to the Options button.
[tpmcm] 8:39 pm: jon change your text color.
[tree] 8:39 pm: Yes, the purple is hard to read
[CEValkyrie] 8:39 pm: run for prez besides me
[krupicka] 8:40 pm: highlight it to read it
[Jon] 8:40 pm: was trying to help Damon
[The Lounge]: has left at 8:40 pm
[CEValkyrie] 8:40 pm: anyone have nominations or want to run for a position?
[Chainmeister] 8:41 pm: Damon told me that his posts are not showing up. Sorry to interrupt.
[CEValkyrie] 8:41 pm: i nominate michler for president
[Jon] 8:41 pm: I don't mind running for secretary again but would be fine if someone else wants to be on the board. I'll still do the stuff I'm currently doing
[CEValkyrie] 8:42 pm: anyone?
[mirth] 8:42 pm: i'll run for treas again, but 08 could be my last year
[mirth] 8:42 pm: I don't know how I feel about Dan for prez
[Jon] 8:43 pm: We need to have you train someone to do your stuff, Mirth!
[mirth] 8:43 pm: Obviously
[The Lounge]: buffy has entered at 8:43 pm
[The Lounge]: has left at 8:43 pm
[tree] 8:44 pm: Now Maddisen is on the PS3
[CEValkyrie] 8:44 pm: any other input on elections?
[mirth] 8:44 pm: And that previous statement wasn't supposed to be taken as an affront against Dan
[tpmcm] 8:44 pm: I nominate Tom S. for Vice President.
[tree] 8:44 pm: When are elections?
[mirth] 8:44 pm: december meeting
[CEValkyrie] 8:44 pm: elections at dec club meeting
[mirth] 8:45 pm: So, where are nominations at right now?
[CEValkyrie] 8:45 pm: we really need some fresh blood to step up
[mirth] 8:45 pm: we need fresh blood because why?
[tpmcm] 8:45 pm: I am willing to help out the club in any way.
[CEValkyrie] 8:45 pm: to fill in for people moving out
[krupicka] 8:45 pm: he's done bleeding. :-)
[tree] 8:45 pm: It's hard to get fresh blood when mostly the same people come to meetings
[The Lounge]: has left at 8:46 pm
[Chainmeister] 8:46 pm: Dan, you have been pretty silent here. What is your response?
[CEValkyrie] 8:46 pm: true
[CEValkyrie] 8:46 pm: i would be willing to do another year if no one is interested
[CEValkyrie] 8:46 pm: but i will say i've been cutting back more & more
[CEValkyrie] 8:47 pm: & starting ventures of my own
[buffy] 8:47 pm: i would if could
[Jon] 8:47 pm: I nominate Bruce for President. We'd have to continue with the online meetings but it wouldn't be a bad idea to have free legal help as our Prez
[mirth] 8:47 pm: yeah, sorry Maddisen... couple more years for that.
[tpmcm] 8:48 pm: what would we need legal help for?
[buffy] 8:48 pm: too many
[Chainmeister] 8:48 pm: The first sign of maturity is knowing when to keep quiet. Maddison is not quite ready.:)
[tpmcm] 8:48 pm: you planning on suing someone?
[mirth] 8:48 pm: I think Brett has done a very good job as President. What other responsibilities do you feel you have other than being the public face of the club?
[Jon] 8:48 pm: He helped us out in the past with some of our legal docs
[CEValkyrie] 8:49 pm: meetings
[tree] 8:49 pm: In summary we have 3 nominations for prez: Brett, Dan, and Bruce; Jon for sec'y, and Mirth as treasurer, right?
[CEValkyrie] 8:50 pm: mcmanus was nominated for VP
[Chainmeister] 8:50 pm: Tom for Veep
[CEValkyrie] 8:50 pm: Tom S for a position
[tree] 8:50 pm: McManus for VP and Tom Schodtler for whatever?
[mirth] 8:50 pm: Jon -> Somewhat, although a friend of mine is a business lawyer & he provided some pro bono review stuff of Jim's original bylaws and the most recent revisions that have been passed.
[The Lounge]: krupicka has left at 8:50 pm
[mirth] 8:50 pm: Schimo says he
[Chainmeister] 8:51 pm: Would McM be interested in stepping up and opening up a VP spot for Tom or Dan or Madissen or whoever?
[CEValkyrie] 8:51 pm: We may want to move on
[Jon] 8:51 pm: Mirth - right, I remember now. I think Bruce provided us with about 10 minutes worth of opinion on one of the docs. Or it might have just been a phone thing with me and Bruce.
[mirth] 8:51 pm: he's willing to run but he won't say what pos?
[mirth] 8:51 pm: yeah, he has provided insight for sure
[Jon] 8:52 pm: Schimo needs to say a position...this isn't the PDGA! :)
[tree] 8:52 pm: That's a thought-McManus for Prez
[krupicka] 8:52 pm: .
[The Lounge]: krupicka has left at 8:52 pm
[The Lounge]: krupicka has entered at 8:52 pm
[mirth] 8:52 pm: We should get Schimo to pick a position so he can get on the ballot properly. McManus for prez isn't a bad idea.
[mirth] 8:53 pm: Not to mention the club president gets to have a check card. ;)
[The Lounge]: tpmcm has left at 8:53 pm
[mirth] 8:53 pm: Dan's been very quiet too.
[CEValkyrie] 8:54 pm: this might be a topic to continue on the discussion board
[CEValkyrie] 8:54 pm: & at the next meeting
[Jon] 8:54 pm: OK, next topic?
[tpmcm] 8:54 pm: How about Bag Tags? How many submittals so far?
[CEValkyrie] 8:54 pm: 2008 Bag Tags
[mirth] 8:54 pm: Could go back to Finances now
[CEValkyrie] 8:55 pm: sure
[tree] 8:55 pm: Competition for design?
[mirth] 8:55 pm: unless you want to save that for the end.
[CEValkyrie] 8:55 pm: post away
[mirth] 8:55 pm: Ooooook.... Finances it is
[The Lounge]: tpmcm has entered at 8:55 pm
[The Lounge]: krupicka has left at 8:55 pm
[mirth] 8:56 pm: about $1575 in the bank, $100+ in PayPal, about $1000 in cash on hand once I get Brett's merch payment.
[buffy] 8:56 pm: sweet
[CEValkyrie] 8:57 pm: how many discs do you have at the house?
[mirth] 8:57 pm: upcoming bills are: I need to pay the club for both Spring & Summer league $1 fees, $20 to Cliff Towne for our Affiliate Club renewal, then after that its Sales Taxes for 2007 due by late January
[mirth] 8:58 pm: getting the answer to brett's question
[The Lounge]: krupicka has entered at 8:58 pm
[CEValkyrie] 8:59 pm: I have approx $1888 retail in merch
[tpmcm] 8:59 pm: Are we getting some money from Marshall street?
[mirth] 9:00 pm: Haven't done an inventory since July so these numbers may be a little off. Not counting the Star Wraiths and TeeRexes Brett bought to have at BN, I have $1281.29 wholesale in merch
[mirth] 9:00 pm: Yes, I just got our most recently quarterly affiliate club payment from MST. Its was about $35
[CEValkyrie] 9:00 pm: cool
[tpmcm] 9:01 pm: How about anything from Scott Pitner?
[The Lounge]: krupicka has left at 9:01 pm
[damonshort] 9:01 pm: I 2nd what Barish said - is McM willing to run for Prez?
[mirth] 9:01 pm: We recently had a $200 affiliate club merch purchase there, so that should provide a nice chunk of change along with the holidays coming up
[mirth] 9:01 pm: Damon - can you change your text color to white? Its the box between options and Save right above the text box.
[tpmcm] 9:01 pm: Yes.
[CEValkyrie] 9:01 pm: how is the google doing?
[mirth] 9:02 pm: Only one payment from Scott since he started the mention discontinuum thing
[mirth] 9:02 pm: and that was like $9
[tree] 9:02 pm: $9?
[The Lounge]: krupicka has left at 9:02 pm
[The Lounge]: krupicka has entered at 9:02 pm
[mirth] 9:03 pm: We got $100 from Adsense in September. Already $14 in the account.
[CEValkyrie] 9:03 pm: nice
[mirth] 9:03 pm: Yeah, it was pretty small. Let me find the actual amount.
[CEValkyrie] 9:03 pm: steady income
[CEValkyrie] 9:04 pm: Marshall Street 5% has brought in $140 this year
[tpmcm] 9:04 pm: that is great.
[tree] 9:04 pm: We've been keeping ourselves afloat for a couple of years, right?
[mirth] 9:04 pm: on the subject of Adsense - we've had 72,900 page impressions & 43 clicks since 9/1. Our average $ per click is 20 cents.
[CEValkyrie] 9:04 pm: nice
[tree] 9:04 pm: The adsense thing is cool.
[CEValkyrie] 9:04 pm: any other finance stiff?
[mirth] 9:05 pm: Paper or Plastic - only payment in December 2006. $7.58
[mirth] 9:05 pm: Umm....... not really? Do we want to order anything for Fairfield? Quads, Huksits?
[CEValkyrie] 9:05 pm: i would say no
[CEValkyrie] 9:06 pm: we gotta a lot of stuff to get rid of
[CEValkyrie] 9:06 pm: 136 discs at my house
[tree] 9:06 pm: would we get them in time? This late in the year it might be stuff to store, not sell
[mirth] 9:06 pm: Yeah, well at least sitting on merch thru 12/31 positively impacts our taxes
[The Lounge]: damonshort has left at 9:06 pm
[The Lounge]: damonshort has entered at 9:07 pm
[mirth] 9:07 pm: if we sell them then we have to pay sales taxes and its included as sold merch for our 2007 federal taxes.
[Jon] 9:07 pm: that's the positive I see to ordering stuff this time of year...it's good for the taxes
[CEValkyrie] 9:07 pm: it's bad sitting on merch that will not sell in 2008
[CEValkyrie] 9:08 pm: there will be new discs in the spring that will make these not move
[tree] 9:08 pm: huksits and quad shock hold up over time
[tpmcm] 9:08 pm: Can we return merch that we have had over a year for new items?
[CEValkyrie] 9:08 pm: we have no destroyers
[mirth] 9:08 pm: Gateway
[mirth] 9:08 pm: yes
[CEValkyrie] 9:08 pm: just to give you a look
[CEValkyrie] 9:08 pm: i moved only 3 wraiths this weekend
[Jon] 9:09 pm: I didn't think mirth suggested buying more discs
[tpmcm] 9:09 pm: are destroyers the hot new item and wraiths have fallen by the wayside?
[mirth] 9:09 pm: Over time I will start to discount the discs that are lingering. The only stuff thats been sitting around for a long time is the Gateway.
[CEValkyrie] 9:10 pm: that is fine
[buffy] 9:10 pm: no one seems to like them
[CEValkyrie] 9:10 pm: but with the club sitting on 250+ discs i don't see the need for any more orders
[CEValkyrie] 9:10 pm: &
[CEValkyrie] 9:11 pm: will there be anyone to watch club merch at fairfield?
[mirth] 9:11 pm: I didn't say order discs
[CEValkyrie] 9:11 pm: merch is merch in my book
[CEValkyrie] 9:11 pm: we gotta a lot of stuff we gotta move
[tpmcm] 9:11 pm: I can watch the club discs on Saturday after the event.
[mirth] 9:11 pm: okay. been by the gas station recently?
[CEValkyrie] 9:12 pm: no
[tpmcm] 9:12 pm: the wizards are popular.
[mirth] 9:12 pm: I plan on playing Sunday. Saturday I'm still trying to work on.
[CEValkyrie] 9:12 pm: gas station guy said he'd call
[CEValkyrie] 9:12 pm: but he's not reliable
[mirth] 9:12 pm: So Sunday Merch is covered.
[CEValkyrie] 9:13 pm: k
[CEValkyrie] 9:13 pm: order what you may but it's a long winter
[mirth] 9:13 pm: Maybe you should drop by there some time. If people don't hear from you they'll tend to forget.
[mirth] 9:13 pm: Same with CVS.
[tpmcm] 9:14 pm: were there other items to discuss?
[CEValkyrie] 9:14 pm: this is why i'd like someone to fill my shoes
[CEValkyrie] 9:14 pm: i've spent a lot ot time at both
[CEValkyrie] 9:15 pm: and don't really feel like going back
[CEValkyrie] 9:15 pm: that is when i know it's time to move on
[CEValkyrie] 9:15 pm: tom is right
[CEValkyrie] 9:15 pm: next topic
[krupicka] 9:15 pm: then it has to be someone local.
[CEValkyrie] 9:15 pm: club shirts for 2008
[Dan Michler] 9:15 pm: we have discs at CVS?
[Jon] 9:16 pm: I'll work on shirts as soon as IOS #6 is in the books
[CEValkyrie] 9:16 pm: no discs at CVS
[tree] 9:16 pm: new logo?
[CEValkyrie] 9:16 pm: i stopped by half dozen times trying to get them in there
[Dan Michler] 9:16 pm: ic
[CEValkyrie] 9:17 pm: club shirts, have no idea
[CEValkyrie] 9:17 pm: not my topic
[Jon] 9:17 pm: see above
[CEValkyrie] 9:17 pm: your project jon?
[Chainmeister] 9:17 pm: Didn't Mukey get somewhere researching this?
[Jon] 9:17 pm: I'll have something ready to order by the first of the year
[CEValkyrie] 9:17 pm: cool
[mirth] 9:18 pm: new logo is not a bad idea, especially if we're doing embroidery & not going to Kennedy's to reuse the existing logo we'll have to pay a setup charge anyhoo.
[damonshort] 9:18 pm: y
[tpmcm] 9:18 pm: I don't think club shirts should be a priority. We tried a couple times this year with no luck. I don't think people were that pysched. But I could be wrong.
[Jon] 9:18 pm: Nothing against Mukey but he wasn't used to working with the board and didn't attend meetings. It was just a communication thing.
[tpmcm] 9:18 pm: How many people here would get a shirt?
[Chainmeister] 9:19 pm: I would.
[buffy] 9:19 pm: i would
[damonshort] 9:19 pm: I'd buy a good-quality one if it's not dark, but it's not a big deal
[tree] 9:19 pm: We had a lot of research and some interest. Polos were better than t-shirts
[mirth] 9:19 pm: I think the straw poll came out at about 10-15 people who said they'd buy at least one good shirt
[damonshort] 9:19 pm: is my text ok now? I finally got Firefox working
[tree] 9:19 pm: Damon, you are fine :0
[mirth] 9:19 pm: Yay for Damon!
[tree] 9:20 pm: :)
[krupicka] 9:20 pm: 10-15 sounds about right. It was just slow going for Mukey to try to do it over the MB
[tpmcm] 9:20 pm: yeah damon it is lovely.
[damonshort] 9:20 pm: polos definitely. I've got plenty of Tshirts
[Jon] 9:20 pm: I don't think it is a big deal but I'm going to do some shirts for TDs and staff for the IOS so I will do the club ones then also
[krupicka] 9:20 pm: second on the polos
[mirth] 9:20 pm: yeah. my collection of polos are starting to get to the point where I can't wear them to work any more
[Dan Michler] 9:20 pm: as long as we aren't losing money on it i don't see why jon shouldnt try it even if he is the only one who gets one
[Jon] 9:20 pm: They will be polos, in the color and material that most people like to wear to play in the summer
[tree] 9:21 pm: cool :)
[mirth] 9:21 pm: If we do the polos the same this time as last, there will be almost no risk to the club. Worst case is we have somebody back out after their shirt's been ordered.
[tpmcm] 9:21 pm: okay with me. Long as the club has minimal investment.
[tree] 9:21 pm: Anthing else on the agenda?
[CEValkyrie] 9:21 pm: Terry Miller has some very nice shirts
[mirth] 9:21 pm: Last time around the club fronted the cost and divided the setup & embroidery costs between each item ordered.
[tpmcm] 9:22 pm: I was gone for a minute, did bag tags get mentioned?
[CEValkyrie] 9:22 pm: Other topics was last?
[mirth] 9:22 pm: not yet
[Jon] 9:22 pm: I'll front the setup costs and we'll see how many people order
[CEValkyrie] 9:22 pm: forgot about bag tags
[Chainmeister] 9:22 pm: Or, find out what it will be based on your estimate and don't order until people cough up the money.
[tpmcm] 9:22 pm: how many people have submitted designs?
[tree] 9:23 pm: What medium are we using for bag tags 2008?
[mirth] 9:23 pm: lets close out the shirt discussion before moving on
[mirth] 9:23 pm: pleae?
[tree] 9:23 pm: ok
[mirth] 9:23 pm: hard to keep track of discussions otherwise.
[CEValkyrie] 9:23 pm: so jon is taking care of shirts
[CEValkyrie] 9:23 pm: topic finished
[CEValkyrie] 9:23 pm: next
[Jon] 9:23 pm: I'm done with shirts unless there's something else to cover...
[CEValkyrie] 9:23 pm: bag tags 2008
[tree] 9:23 pm: more details to follow after IOS#6
[CEValkyrie] 9:24 pm: contest posted on discussion board
[CEValkyrie] 9:24 pm: trying plastic tags
[krupicka] 9:24 pm: I thought people didn't like the plastic tags as they clanked around a lot.
[tree] 9:24 pm: how long is the contest running?
[CEValkyrie] 9:24 pm: just letting people know up front i'm not willing to run chalenges at events
[tpmcm] 9:24 pm: plastic tags are popular. It will be nice to mix it up a little bit.
[damonshort] 9:25 pm: clanking plastic??
[CEValkyrie] 9:25 pm: they will be multicolor
[tpmcm] 9:25 pm: I think that you can do a little more with them.
[mirth] 9:25 pm: metal tags clank
[CEValkyrie] 9:25 pm: more options
[tree] 9:25 pm: It was the metal ones that clanked a lot. I have plastic that doesn't make much noise.
[tpmcm] 9:25 pm: design wise that is.
[buffy] 9:25 pm: cheaper
[The Lounge]: MR.AVIAR has left at 9:25 pm
[krupicka] 9:25 pm: My cart makes more noise than a plastic tag. :)
[mirth] 9:25 pm: much cheaper
[damonshort] 9:25 pm: plastic probably cheaper than 'leather', I assume
[Chainmeister] 9:25 pm: I know the Philly club had tags that looked like the old motel room keys.
[CEValkyrie] 9:26 pm: much
[tpmcm] 9:26 pm: Brett has anyone submitted a design?
[CEValkyrie] 9:26 pm: submissions are made to mirth
[tpmcm] 9:26 pm: Okay. Mirth?
[mirth] 9:27 pm: zero.
[buffy] 9:27 pm: i might do something
[CEValkyrie] 9:27 pm: there is a lot of time left on that one
[mirth] 9:27 pm: 21 days
[CEValkyrie] 9:27 pm: they usually roll in late
[Jon] 9:28 pm: Are we still accepting as many submissions as someone can come up with e-mail addies?
[Dan Michler] 9:28 pm: i'm working some magic myself
[tpmcm] 9:28 pm: Dan usually has some good ideas involving Jessica Alba.
[mirth] 9:28 pm: 1 submission/person
[Dan Michler] 9:28 pm: i'm not giving away any secrets this time tom
[buffy] 9:28 pm: how big?
[Jon] 9:29 pm: details are on the message board grasshopper!
[mirth] 9:29 pm: Several options.
[mirth] 9:29 pm: http://discontinuum.org/index.php?option=com_smf&Itemid=26&topic=3549.0
[The Lounge]: tpmcm has left at 9:29 pm
[CEValkyrie] 9:29 pm: we good on bag tags?
[damonshort] 9:29 pm: next topic?
[tree] 9:29 pm: I think so.
[Jon] 9:29 pm: yes
[CEValkyrie] 9:30 pm: OTHERS?
[Jon] 9:30 pm: USWDGC "The Peoria Years" DVD.
[krupicka] 9:30 pm: I may have missed it since my connection kept dropping....
[krupicka] 9:30 pm: but when do we start taking dues for next year?
[mirth] 9:31 pm: Whenever
[Jon] 9:31 pm: Once I get it together I'd like to sell it at the Discontinuum store. I'd be selling it for cost but the club could make a buck or two
[The Lounge]: Tenny Schimo has entered at 9:31 pm
[mirth] 9:31 pm: new memberships taken in October, unless you're Terry Miller, are good for the next year
[CEValkyrie] 9:31 pm: that is fine with me but that's mirth's call
[ChrisPUTTS] 9:32 pm: so its like the pdga membership, where your first is good for 16 months?
[mirth] 9:32 pm: Pretty much, yeah.
[Jon] 9:32 pm: my "other" topic was first
[krupicka] 9:32 pm: sorry jon. How's the DVD coming along.
[mirth] 9:33 pm: Although September is a little early... Jon -> Selling the dvd on the store is fine if thats what you wish
[Jon] 9:33 pm: My part is fine but Maddisen isn't doing anything with her part yet!
[The Lounge]: tpmcm has entered at 9:33 pm
[Jon] 9:34 pm: OK, DVD topic done, next!
[mirth] 9:34 pm: when we're ready to move on I have another topic
[buffy] 9:34 pm: you haven't told me
[CEValkyrie] 9:34 pm: done jon?
[damonshort] 9:34 pm: go mirth go
[mirth] 9:34 pm: krupicka, you good on your question?
[krupicka] 9:34 pm: yup
[tree] 9:34 pm: go Mirth go
[mirth] 9:34 pm: Is waukegan aware of 5B's pad damage?
[mirth] 9:35 pm: and has the question of a donation letter been raised with them?
[CEValkyrie] 9:35 pm: no & no
[mirth] 9:35 pm: have you made contact?
[CEValkyrie] 9:35 pm: no
[mirth] 9:36 pm: ....because?
[CEValkyrie] 9:36 pm: had no clue of any damage
[mirth] 9:36 pm: both were posted in the Bevier thread Monday night.
[mirth] 9:36 pm: er, Sunday night
[CEValkyrie] 9:36 pm: and not sure what the donation lett is all about
[mirth] 9:37 pm: 5B appears to have been hit by a mower. large hole in the center of the pad & bits of flypad material all over.
[CEValkyrie] 9:37 pm: ahh
[mirth] 9:37 pm: donation letter was also mentioned in the same thread. we can write off the cost of the flypads for several years to come if its seen as a donation to WPD and we get a letter from them.
[tree] 9:37 pm:
[mirth] 9:38 pm: otherwise we can only write off a part of it on this years taxes and thats it.
[CEValkyrie] 9:38 pm: ahh
[CEValkyrie] 9:38 pm: i'll contat them
[mirth] 9:38 pm: k
[mirth] 9:38 pm: the other question was who would be footing the bill for the replacement
[mirth] 9:39 pm: be nice to get that one replaced before the ground freezes
[CEValkyrie] 9:39 pm: i'll ask but i'll assume iti's us
[Jon] 9:39 pm: In Brett's defense he was out of town Sunday and probably missed your post.
[mirth] 9:39 pm: yeah, thats what I figured - brett & jon.
[Jon] 9:40 pm: the PD might be willing to pay for it since they mowed it. It's worth asking.
[mirth] 9:40 pm: fine if we're paying. be nice if we could get a donation letter then
[CEValkyrie] 9:40 pm: i did not think they could be run over by a mower especially the middle section
[mirth] 9:40 pm: possible it wasn't stretched tight enough?
[CEValkyrie] 9:40 pm: i could understand the edge
[CEValkyrie] 9:40 pm: i hadn't played them in a while
[Jon] 9:40 pm: could have been a little bump underneath at that part?
[mirth] 9:41 pm: got sucked/stretched up enough to catch? there wasn't really any evidence supporting any theory when I was there on sunday.
[mirth] 9:41 pm: but they had recently mowed.
[CEValkyrie] 9:41 pm: they had been mowed over several times prior to that
[mirth] 9:41 pm: there were mower tracks on the pad and not much else.
[Jon] 9:42 pm: They are not really designed to be mowed over. Edgebrook had problems with mowers hacking the tee pads also.
[CEValkyrie] 9:42 pm: ahh
[mirth] 9:42 pm: perhaps it was just the right angle crossing over it? pretty much impossible to figure it out after the fact.
[CEValkyrie] 9:43 pm: i'll ask the pd
[damonshort] 9:43 pm: what about snowmobiles? Could those be a problem this winter?
[mirth] 9:43 pm: anything's possible
[Jon] 9:43 pm: The material is pretty tough. You really have to cut it with something relatively sharp.
[CEValkyrie] 9:44 pm: barb wire is cure all for 4 wheelers & snowmobilers
[Jon] 9:44 pm: I don't think snowmobile treads move at the same cutting angle as a mower also.
[CEValkyrie] 9:44 pm: other topics?
[mirth] 9:44 pm: we'll have to see what happens this winter. dunno what we'd be able to do to prevent it.
[CEValkyrie] 9:45 pm: i'll take care of WPD contact
[Jon] 9:45 pm: thanks Brett
[CEValkyrie] 9:45 pm: np
[CEValkyrie] 9:45 pm: i got one last one & that's it for me
[tree] 9:45 pm: Successful meeting....this is the largest gathering
[CEValkyrie] 9:45 pm: league 2008
[tree] 9:45 pm: lately
[CEValkyrie] 9:46 pm: i will not be running league in 2008
[CEValkyrie] 9:46 pm: not sure if mirth is going to continue
[CEValkyrie] 9:46 pm: just something to think about for next year
[tree] 9:46 pm: Do you have a successor?
[tree] 9:46 pm: Or are you looking for a volunteer?
[CEValkyrie] 9:47 pm: mirth has filled my duites since this summer
[mirth] 9:47 pm: at this point I have no plans to not run league, given what you just said. can I ask why?
[mirth] 9:47 pm: last I knew you were going to take it back over during the winter/early spring months when there's not much going on
[CEValkyrie] 9:48 pm: i'm stepping back, no league running for me in 2008
[CEValkyrie] 9:48 pm: this adler fall league was my last
[Dan Michler] 9:48 pm: thats cool
[mirth] 9:48 pm: could you be available for subbing as need be?
[Dan Michler] 9:48 pm: 5 years of running leagues is alot
[CEValkyrie] 9:48 pm: possibly
[tpmcm] 9:49 pm: I can help out in winter and spring.
[tpmcm] 9:49 pm: summer is tough.
[damonshort] 9:50 pm: sounds like Brett's looking for a break, and he's certainly entitled to it!
[mirth] 9:50 pm: summer is tough for everyone who plays in more than a couple tournaments.
[CEValkyrie] 9:50 pm: i'm hoping to attend in the winter but have lost motivation of running league
[tree] 9:50 pm: I second that
[Tenny Schimo] 9:50 pm: If needed I could help during winter and spring also
[mirth] 9:50 pm: thanks Toms
[CEValkyrie] 9:50 pm: i really only ran adler to make a new transition of courses to challenge my skills
[Tenny Schimo] 9:51 pm: also for a sub anytime
[CEValkyrie] 9:51 pm: i'm kind of regretting it a little but what can i do now
[Jon] 9:51 pm: Maybe we could use the web calendar to setup a schedule of who will run it and when
[mirth] 9:51 pm: and Brett definitely has earned a break
[tree] 9:51 pm: I like Jon's idea
[CEValkyrie] 9:51 pm: mirth, to answer a few of your questions from before
[CEValkyrie] 9:52 pm: running here & there with the league box, running to the store here & there, adds up during the year
[mirth] 9:52 pm: I'm fine with being the assumed league runner, and typically know more than several days ahead of time if I won't be able to make it
[CEValkyrie] 9:53 pm: thank you mirth for doing that
[CEValkyrie] 9:53 pm: & tom
[CEValkyrie] 9:53 pm: & tom
[Dan Michler] 9:53 pm: and schimo
[The Lounge]: tpmcm has left at 9:53 pm
[CEValkyrie] 9:54 pm: Other topics?
[Jon] 9:54 pm: Other topics going twice?
[krupicka] 9:54 pm: If there is anyone else that want to help ...
[tree] 9:54 pm: Three times.....
[krupicka] 9:54 pm: add entries into the google league calendar, let me know and I can grant permissions.
[CEValkyrie] 9:55 pm: sweet mike
[tree] 9:55 pm: cool idea
[The Lounge]: Dan Michler has left at 9:55 pm
[CEValkyrie] 9:55 pm: good night!
[tpmcm] 9:55 pm: what else is on the agenda?
[The Lounge]: CEValkyrie has left at 9:56 pm
[Jon] 9:56 pm: good night, thanks for attending
[The Lounge]: tpmcm has left at 9:56 pm
[Chainmeister] 9:56 pm: Anybody taking that last piece of pizza?
[buffy] 9:56 pm: night
[krupicka] 9:56 pm: :faint:
[mirth] 9:56 pm: its all yorus. i've had plenty already
[Jon] 9:56 pm: nope, you can have it
[The Lounge]: tpmcm has entered at 9:56 pm
[tree] 9:56 pm: It's mine

I saw my name mentioned with incoming cash flow from Discontinuum referral sales.  I haven't sent anything for a while since I've had maybe 2 sales since I sent in the last amount of $7.58.  I still owe for one Tom S purchase and I can't remember what other one (or ones).  It's at most another $5-$10.  I've had very few people take me up on the 8% offer.  I'm not at my primary computer right now or else I could check to see who I still haven't submitted their money for yet.

If you have trouble multi-tasking or can only handle one conversation at once, irc style discussions are not for you. My network was bouncing up and down during the chat. It was very annoying. But it was good being able to attend.

Personally I like being able to see the flow of the meeting as one topic melds into another but if people really want "regular" meeting notes I can boil the chat down into regular notes. I am the secretary...it is my job. Just post here if you think we should have regular meeting notes in addition to the transcript of the online chat.

Some sort of summary might be useful, but the transcript is entertaining.

In addition to my text problems, I was lagging about 8 min behind until I could get the chat button to show up on Firefox and switch there from IE 7.

Overall though, I think it's useful to have a mtg this way. Maybe not always, but certainly during the times of year when it's hard to get a turnout. I know I hadn't been able to make a meeting in months.

thanks,

I think after February we haven't had more than 5 people at a meeting until last night.

I think chat-style meetings can work for the future if we can control discussions to stay on topic and then move on to the next.
