2008 elections

I see that candidates have a paragraph or so published at www.pdga.com so we can make a choice.  I know very few of them and would appreciate anything anybody has to offer about them.  I don't need any advice on voting for State Coordinator this year. That seems like a pretty easy choice.  I am sure there are a couple  BOD candidates out there that some of you think would be great and others that some of you think would be awful. Who are they?  Just wondering.

Correct me if I'm mistaken, but I think the Louisianian referred to here is "Mikey", not Steve Timm....  .

If you read UPM and Timm's posts, they seems to have the same view point: Where, O where is the buttloads of cash the PDGA has at its disposal going?, but Timm(NOHalfFastPull) doesn't have Mikey's(The_Disc_Golf_Rebel ) completely over the top style.

Timm in his candidate statement aligns himself with Dodge, Southwick, and Brenner. If that's where you think the PDGA should be headed. Go for it. But I think his platform of roll back the prices to 1980 is short sighted. The PDGA is not rolling in the cash and still greatly relies on volunteers for things to happen.

Wildman from Northern Waters is a nice guy.  If he was from a big market disc golf community he'd probably get elected, because these elections are always just a popularity contest.  I don't think he would make a good candidate if you like the gradualist approach the PDGA is taking towards ratings-based competition.  Wildman is for taking steps backward, to the past. 

Timm has had success in a retail clothing business, which suggests he has some good business sense and a good sense of customer service.  The Board really needs that. 

Pros should vote for Rothstein.  Ams should not.  Rothstein is a long-time advocate of bleeding the ams to pay the pros.  He's smart and capable. 

Bellinger says in his statement he's for openness.  He votes on the Board for secrecy.  In February he voted with the majority [5-2] that the PDGA should release to the members only those few documents required by Colorado law and those documents that a majority of the Board has approved for release to the members.  In other words, everything starts off a secret.  That's not openness.  They had to vote on whether to release the NT TD agreement.  That's just dumb.  There's no reason to keep the TD agreements a secret. 

Being on the Board is a big pain in the asterisk.  If you have a friend who is running, do him a favor and vote for someone else.

i wish i could remember who i voted for.  i only remember the statements but i don't remember which name went with which statement.
